I should say that while my copy is VF-VF+ it is not the copy pictured. I am not a fan of graded comics but mine is neatly bagged and boarded for safe keeping.

Went a little nuts (for me) with strip reprints/collected editions today. Mandrake Sundays, Vol. 1 I've never tried any Mandrake comics (strips or comics). I know Falk's art but not familiar Phil Davis. How's the art and story of the series?

My sole purchase at a flea market yesterday. Wasn;t looking for it, but for $2, couldn;t pass it up. Charming art by John Severin.

Bought on the 7th, shipped on the 10th, received on the 16th via PostNL + MRW. 2nd House of M order: The one that motivated the order. After searching @ eBay, LSC, MHC (nothing there), this is the most reasonably priced copy I could find:

So we put out some comic books in a small UPS box out of the floor yesterday, surprised that nobody just bought the whole box hoping to pay off their mortgage with it. There was nothing particularly special in there, just a whole bunch of 90's X-Men comics, but I did some digging and came home with a few books I've always found X-Men Adventures particularly interesting, even though as a whole, I'm not big into their more storied runs
There was also this in there, already in a bag and board. First time I ever bought something solely for the speculation aspect {Spoiler: Click to show}

And literally just as I was posting that, my wife handed me this volume that came in the mail today. Thanks Confessor for mentioning this in the "underrated creators" thread, just took a quick flip through the pages and it looks fantastic!

And literally just as I was posting that, my wife handed me this volume that came in the mail today. Thanks Confessor for mentioning this in the "underrated creators" thread, just took a quick flip through the pages and it looks fantastic! Enjoy! I just had a look online and that hardcover not only collects the whole "Voyage to Venus" arc, but also includes "The Red Moon Mystery", which followed it in the pages of Eagle. That's some great comics you've got there. I hope you enjoy them. The Dan Dare strips are fantastic slices of Boys' Own-style sci-fi derring-do, with thrills and spills galore and a cast of memorable characters. Frank Hampson's gorgeous artwork, with its post-war, "future retro" aesthetic, is to die for. The RAF has turned into the futuristic Interplanet Space Fleet (though the uniforms are all firmly of WW2 vintage) and the spacecraft may all look sleek and futuristic, but inside their controls and instrument consoles all look like those of a Lancaster bomber.

Went a little nuts (for me) with strip reprints/collected editions today. Melvin Monster, Volume 2$62 (including shipping) for the five of them. So really great prices. I have the first volume of Melvin Monster, and I liked it... haven't gotten the other two, but I am always tempted to buy them. The strip is funny, and very well drawn, and sort of melancholy.

I've got the other two, so this finishes it up for me. It's a nice little strip. Of course Stanley is generally very good. I did find that I liked the third volume a tad more than the first, so it seems like maybe it's a feature that got stronger over time.
