My favorite Flash run was the Mike Baron beginning to the Wally West Flash. 1-18.

I always joke that there were five good Flash comics in the 1980s and five bad ones in the 1990s.

I've read ONE single Flash book, and that was "The Return of Barry Allen". It was fantastic. Probably an odd place to start reading The Flash, though, huh? You guys have any links to any TPBs you'd suggest starting with?

The first Flash comics I read were during William Messner-Loebs' run in the early '90s and I would definitely recommend checking them out.

I also recommend the Cary Bates run from the 80's with Barry Allen, though it isn't really collected anywhere.

Perhaps I should go back to the silver age since that stuff is probably collected, yes?

wah My comic store said they no longer have Geoff Johns' run and they can't order the Omnibus again.

You trade content for color, though, and I imagine Showcase collects more overall.

The Trial of The Flash has a Showcase Presents... volume, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it as a starting point.
I really wish that DC would collect some of the Messner-Loebs run. And the Baron run. Like I said in my earlier post, The Flash was DC's second best continuously published title from its post-Crisis launch to 200. Only Hellblazer had a better run during that timeframe.
