I just discovered Tubi this week. It's free and it's got a great catalog of older films. I watched 20 million miles to Earth this afternoon, and my wife and I just caught the charming Midnight in Paris after dinner. Next in line are La Grande Bouffe and the western/samurai film Red Sun. There are a few films from The Asylum too, but nobody's forced to watch those! Thanks for recommending this. I have been watching old movie serials on this and loving them.

The original Batman serial is there, too!
Haven't watched that since 1994.

All I remember is that there was a kind of ray that could stop steam powered locomotives. Not that's comic-book science done right!

In the first of the two serials, Lewis Wilson, who came from the Worcester, Massachusetts area, played Batman. It's so much fun to hear his Massachusetts accent. And to see J. Carroll Naish as the evil Dr. Daka

I like it that the US has a Worcester, too. I’m gonna go out on a limb and presume you pronounce it differently from “our” Worcester.
On streaming, I saw an ad on Facebook for New Faith Network, a platform showing Christian films and TV shows, including The Chosen.

No, I used to live 45 minutes from Worcester, MA when I went to high school, used to go to concerts there all the time. It's pretty similar to your pronunciation. Wuh-stir

Though that reminds me of how much pronunciations can vary even nearby. The town I lived in Massachusetts is called Groton, and we pronounced it "Grah-tin". Just a state away in Connecticut they have a Groton too, but they pronounce it "Grow-tin".

Even in the UK, it can happen, often to the amusement of many. Shrewsbury is pronounced in two different ways. Just one example.

When I lived in Shrewsbury and Grafton Massachusetts, (both near Worcester), I heard pronunciations that ranged from "wuh-stir" to "wistah".

Yeah, there's a little "accent dependence" here as well, I agree. I originally typed it as "wuh-stuh" based on how I pronounce it myself (the "stuh" is a little "thicker New England" than "stir" if that makes any sense). How about this...take the first syllable from "Wookie" and then add "stuh/stir" at the end. I think that's how I heard it most.

Rob Allen (and my other other fellow former and current Mass friends), accents can vary as you accurately pointed out (I lived in New England from 3rd to 12th grade and heard quite a mix), but if there was such a thing as a "definitive source" for town names in Massachusetts, I submit to you it would be how the conductors on the commuter rails for the T would call them out. Nothing more "authentic" to my ears. And no matter how many years I lived there, I never quite stopped giggling at how the town of "Peabody" is pronounced.
