X-Men #1's Bobby ice-related-hijinks-of-the-month was him putting on a hat, two buttons and a carrot to mimic a snowman.  And yeah, that pie a la mode would have tasted horrendous. |

I think it was in Joe Kelly's X-Men, not quite "mundane" usage of powers, more an unusual application, but needing to operate Cyclops in a place without tools, Dr. Cecilia Reyes asks Jean to use her telepathy as dampen his pain, Storm uses rain+lightning to create boiling water and Logan puts his claw in the water to disinfect them so he can work as a scalpel.
