At the prompting of the Zoom group, I started this thread to post photos from my expedition cruise to Antarctica. Feb 14 to March 2. 10 days in Antarctica.

Cool (if you'll pardon the pun). My cousin Robert spent a year in Antarctica as an electrician at Mawson Base. I still have vivid memories of the slide show he gave us after he came back. He was originally only supposed to be there for for six months, but the electrician who was supposed to replace him broke his leg a couple of weeks before the switchover date, and there wasn't time to get anyone new through the training process before the supply ship sailed so they asked him to stay on. Robert decided this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to winter in Antarctica so agreed. He said he was glad he did it, but that he would never do it again.  |
