I did not realize there was a second page.
Expecting me to click to another page is beyond the pale.

I did not realize there was a second page. Expecting me to click to another page is beyond the pale. Expecting all that gorilla goodness to be contained by a single page is beyond the pale.... -M

Re: B and B 49: I think he's supposed to be sliding into third, m. From the grass halfway up the baseline With the grass on the other side of the basepath and the dirt turning as if going towards second in the background? The way the diamond is drawn, that's definitely the first base line....and the bag is still in foul territory... -M

The gorilla's clearly legging out a triple. I'm betting they used a photo as a model and just didn't bother to draw the infield skin and /or color it properly. Imagine the green areas to be dirt and vice versa and it make sense. Then the little triangle of green under the "S" isn't the infield, but the third base coach's box. Maybe they decided that accuracy be damned, they'd rather go with green and not tan as a background color.

I know it looks like he's legging out a triple, but the context of the diamond and the positioning of the umpire make it first base. I used the cover to stump Mark Waid in a DC trivia event at a local con when I asked him what the rules of gorilla baseball are in the DCU when players slide into first base from foul territory halfway up the line. He got a kick out of it and even texted some of his peers to see if anyone could provide insight, to which the consensus was, man the cover edited screwed the pooch. I had just bought the issue at that con too, so it's a fond fun memory of that book for me.
