Wonder Man has always been the king of the ugly costume, but nothing was worse than this number: And now I want to see Wonder Man and 3D Man join forces in Harlem just so Luke Cage can say Sweet Christmas!!!

Without a doubt, my choice would be the supernatural-cyborg version of Johnny Blaze If only the vest had had some pouches...

Without a doubt, my choice would be the supernatural-cyborg version of Johnny Blaze If only the vest had had some pouches... Hey I wore a "photographer's" vest through much of the 90s that had lots of pouches. Wore it a lot right up until about 2000 when I forgot to pack it coming home from New Mexico after a week staying (and ding a lot of hiking) in the desert. It actually was quite utilitarian, so I've got nothing but good to say about vest with pouches. -M

Captain America. More modern iterations tone down a lot of the ostentatious elements.

I still like it! Not as much as the original, but way, way more than the safari jacket - which come to think of it would be one of my most-disliked.

I'm not sure that "uniform" is the right term in this context (except for the Fantastic Four and some iteration of the X-Men) 🤔

I've never gotten the hate for this costume either. Is it that it's too busy or something?

Apparently that's how it comes across to most people. To me it doesn't seem too much within the context of superhero comics, where colourful, fanciful costumes are the norm.

Starman's original uniform, and where it should have been abandoned right from the start! And the mullet didn't help either.

Personally, the problem I have with that costume is the color scheme and how the colors are used. To me, it would look better as dark blue, red and gold, rather than the green, red and gold. The green and gold parts work fine, on their own, but the red shade doesn't compliment well, to my eyes. The bigger problem though, is in the design and where the color is used. Having the abdominal area be red really disrupts the appearance of the torso. It would look better if the costume was green from hood to trunks, as it would give a more solid look, accentuated by the gold W and M logo. the red arm and leg sections don't really integrate well with the green and I suspect Perez was influenced by Neal Adams' Angel costume, with the deltoid cuts, but it doesn't flow down the body like that does. It might work better if the deltoid section was gold and created by the tips of the W; or, with gold piping, separating the colors.
I think I would have gone with a green bodysuit, in that shade, since green was an established color from his previous costume; but with gold accents and no red. Solid green shirt and tights, with the W/M logo, gold belt, the gold piping on the boots, gold wrist bands, and maybe a gold stripe coming out of the tips of the W, down the side of each arm, and similar on the legs, coming from the M. Red is fine for the goggles, though gold would fit the color scheme better. You can keep the gold stripe down the center of the hood, but I think it would look better as solid green or something unique, like it being more of a helmet, than a hood.
I think the biggest sin, though, is the red abdominal area. Had it been green, I think it would flow better, though the red still doesn't work well with that shade of green. As it is, it looks like an open mouth; or, alternatively, like he ran out of material and pieced together a red scrap.
I said before I prefer the safari jacket and part of it is that the red jacket compliments the blue pants and it gives him a unique look, within the Avengers and with most Marvel heroes.

I didn't mind the asymmetrical styling; but the color scheme was terrible and I hated the star. The black and reddish-orange costume wasn't necessarily better, though the color wasn't as garish. Still had the upside down star.

The Comet's 1960s Mighty Comics look was terrible.... (between The Shield and the Black Hood) When they revived the series, in the early 80s, under the Red Circle imprint, they improved the colors; but, quickly switched him back to his original (with a slight updating.

ps I preferred the original black and yellow costume, for the Black Hood, rather than the black outfit and weird mask, from the late 60s and used in the Red Circle relaunch.... Toth makes it look better (as did Gray Morrow and Adams); but, I never liked that mask.

Nemesis from ACG. One of the silliest superhero costumes ever. I'll find a picture later today. edit - here he is, in all his bare-legged glory:
