So I guess I'm the only one who thinks the entire premise of this story is stupid as hell? The Hulk is such a simple, elegant concept. Why do they insist on complicating it? I just don't understand Marvel these days, the comics or the movies. Cei-U! I summon the befuddlement!q It's a very logical extension of themes both Bill Mantlo and Peter David laid down in their runs. If anything, it's more lovingly built upon what came before than most other runs out there. Nothing wrong with preferring earlier iterations of The Hulk, of course, but this run's premise definitely didn't come out of nowhere.

Yeah, as someone who thinks that PAD's and Mantlo's runs are the best Hulk ever was I loved how well most of Immortal Hulk played with the concepts they first introduced.

Which may not lend itself to being (mostly) continuously published for 60+ years. I'd rather they at least tried to do something interesting rather than another iteration of Hulk Smash that we've seen a few hundred times before.

I may need to go back and read more of the Mantlo run now. I'll also say I love the Len Wein run for the more classic depiction of the character (even if it never made sense how rarely he changed back to Banner, even when calm).

It was slightly simplistic, "Hulk smash!" kind of stuff early on(which isn't bad) but the end of his run from like 300 until 312 was just awesome. The story with Nightmare "banishing" banner was just fantastic.

I just finished Roger Stern's run the other day, so I'm about to start Mantlo's.
It's amazing how, even with all the repetition, Incredible Hulk has remained thoroughly readable the whole way through so far.

Bruce Banner flew Hulk into space and found a whole planet full of Hulks that toss moons around during their sporting events. I'm sure someone has the rules for 'Godball' somewhere.
