Jailbait/Homegirl I was today years old when I found out there was a character named Jailbait. Same here. Yikes. There must be a story behind that, but I don't think I dare Google it.

Jailbait/Homegirl is one of the dozens of background characters in Astro City. She is a member of the Irregulars (a sort of street level version of the Teen Titans; a bit like the Runaways but predating that team).
Almost nothing is known about her, except she is expert knife-thrower, can possibly fly, and might be unaging (unlike other AC characters, she does not seem to have aged between her appearances; which could have been the origin of her original codename, although that is pure speculation on my part).
Somewhere along the line, Kurt Busiek must have gotten uncomfortable with the Jailbait tag and changed her name to Homegirl.
Like so many characters in Astro City that we only get glimpses of, I've always been curious about Jailbait and wondered what her backstory is and how she acquired that codename.

Agent Bobbi Morse became The Huntress, then Mockingbird.

My smart-ass answer would be "Marvelman becoming Miracleman". But, I'm gonna go with... Jean Grey/Marvel Girl became Phoenix

Ah, thanks for the info. I read some of Astro City early on, but IIRC there were gaps in the releases due to Busiek having health problems at the time, and I never got back to it. Now I remember nothing at all about it.

My smart-ass answer would be "Marvelman becoming Miracleman". That's hilarious! I wonder if Go Mifune becoming Speed Racer would count.

(Monica Rambeau) Captain Marvel, Spectrum, Photon and Pulsar. Poor Monica ! Could be worse...someone could have noticed the similarity in her surname and that of an ex-Green Beret mental case and Monica could have been taking steroids and waging one-woman wars on Communist countries and/or small town sheriffs.

Captain America becoming Nomad; it seemed like a really big deal at the time!

Round 8 has endedFor the first time I'm going to discount some entries: - Death's Head to Death's Head 2.. yeah, I debated it for a bit (also had to lookup because I remembered the two being different people, but it's the same mind, so I'll see itt as one). In the end, I'm not counting it. - Spider-Man as Prodigy, Ricochet, Dusk and Hornet: I specifically called that out as one of the ones I would not count. - I'd have counted Captain America as Nomad, but apparently it was only four issues and I can hardly discount Spider-Man being Ricochet for 4 issues and then count Steve being Nomad for issues. If it's wrong, let me know. People I was expecting but didn't show up: Batgirl becoming Oracle was the biggest one Others: The Cat becoming Tigra Impulse becoming (Kid) Flash and many more (just think all the replacement heroes of the 80s and 90s later getting their own identities like USAgent, Thunderstrike, War Machine etc.) 80sChild 2 Calidore 8 Cei-U 8 codystarbuck 8 Confessor 7 DogHouse Reilly 7 driver1980 7 DubipR 8 EdoBosnar 8 Farrar 8 foxley 8 Hoosier X 8 icctrombone 7 james 6 jason 5 Jeddak 8 jtrw2024 1 MRPS_Missives 8 MWGallaher 2 Ricky Jackson 8 riv86672 7 Roquefort Raider 7 shaxper 2 Slam_Bradley 8 spoon 1 supercat 8 tarkintino 1 Round 9: Name a character with a moustache.Example: Professor Gobelijn from Belgian comic "Jommeke" No clauses this time.

Snidely Whiplash who, while best known as a cartoon character, appeared in a number of funnybooks.

I considered Richard before going with Snidely.
