Looking at all the covers so far, one thing's for sure-- Marshall Rogers loved his pre-printed Zip-a-Tone dry transfer sheets for hatching and screentone work!
At least half the covers already posted exhibit this time-saving technique for textured shading. Of course, not saying there's anything wrong with that, if the desired overall effect is achieved.
He must have gone through 30 sheets of Zip-a-Tone on just the JLE #21 cover alone.
According to GCD, Bruce Patterson inked the JLE cover.

interesting. I hear that you had to purchase zip a tone separately , now you can just apply it with a computer.

interesting. I hear that you had to purchase zip a tone separately , now you can just apply it with a computer. Neal Adams used a lot of zip a tone in his Batman art in the 70s. Apparently, this caused some issues when they had to touch up the artwork for the Complete Neal Adams Batman.

DubipR, people (rightfully) are big fans of Ron Lim's Silver Surfer. But it should be remembered that the new, shiny chrome look was first drawn by Rodgers for that series before Lim took over.
