So much great content here, I love classic style annuals.
I picked ASM #3 partially because I love seeing all the heroes and the idea of Spidey being considered for Avengers membership. But I also love the fact that he intentionally “fails” his test to get in because he feels compassion for the Hulk who he feels needs help instead of being hounded. And he doesn’t even tell the Avengers that he actually did capture the Hulk (at least momentarily). Classic Pete, that’s why we love him.
FF#3 was just packed with character appearances, good and evil. I love back then even the X-Men were fully welcome as just another group of hero friends versus mistrusted sometimes allies. Gorgeous full page Kirby photo/art collage in one scene with Reed and the Watcher, a happy union for Reed and Sue, and Stan and Jack getting turned away at the door from the wedding was priceless.
And my favorite: ASM#1. The Sinister Six! ‘Nuff said.

Daredevil, for me, The villains may not be the cream of the crop; but, Gene Colan really buckled on some swash! Besides, it was my intro to Daredevil (via the reprint in GS Daredevil).

Has to be ASM Annual #1. Can’t argue with a story that united six of Spidey’s major foes, and it’s a tale I have enjoyed revisiting more than once.

ASM Annual #2, Ditko doing both his major Marvel contributions together in the same story. 'Nuff said.

ASM Annuals 1 and 2 were great. As well as DDc1. But FF 6 had some of Kirby's best art on hi FF run.

I've never come across any of them but they all look AWESOME!!! I love the bombastic blurbs, the dramatic and busy covers, and the promise of a large dose of adventure! As a kid I'd have been all over those books. Whoever was setting up these issues, they did a great job!

IIRC, the first DC annual to include new material (excepting text pieces, pinups, maps, etc.) was Superboy 147, an 80-Page Giant that featured the first Legion-themed collection, which came out in March 1968. The lead story was an eight-page recap of the Legion's origin by E. Nelson Bridwell. The penultimate 80-Page Giant, Batman 208, (on sale in November 1968) also had a new story, also by ENB, that wove itself around and between the various reprints. On the last page, we learned the surprising identity of the most important woman in Batman's life. It provided quite a nice touch to the Batman mythos. Batman 213, released in May of 1969, contained a new origin of Robin, again by ENB. (It was technically a Giant, but was only 64 pages, one of the first few after DC dropped the page count of its annuals.)

I voted for Amazing Spider-Man Annuals #2, #1, and #5 in that order. The first two ASM annuals are stone cold Ditko classics and, even though annual #5 is controversial with some fans for what it revealed about Peter Parker's parents, I don't mind that too much and still find it to be a very enjoyable story.
Fantastic Four Annual #3 was a close runner up.

I went with two that I read as a small kid in the 60s - Fantastic Four Annuals #5 & #6 - and one that I read as an 8 year old in a 1970 reprint - FF Annual #1 (reprinted then as King Size Special #8).
I'm not sure all or even any of these would be amongst my picks as the best three Marvel Annuals but it's been so long since I've read or re-read much 60s-70s Marvel in general (though there have been exceptions) that I find on reflection that it's these early memories that stand out in my mind. FF Annual #5 was one of the first FF comics I can definitely remember reading and the 1970 King-Size Special fascinated me both as a story in itself and also as a look back to an early era of the FF that I hadn't seen that much of apart from the odd reprint like this.

Would it be churlish of me to note that I own every one of these annuals, plus Sgt. Fury Annual #1-4 and Strange Tales Annual #2 (teaming Human Torch and Spider-Man)? Anyhoo, I picked FF Annual #1 (featuring the best Kirby/Ayers art of their collaboration), Avengers Special #2, and my introduction to the Marvel Universe: Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1.
Cei-U! I summon the cornerstones of my collection!

My Picks were Avengers 2 , FF 3 and Spider-man 3.
That Spider-man annual with the Hulk and Avengers is just a great story. It has everything I love- Romita art, Heck art, the Avengers mixing it up with Spidey and the tragic ending where Peter has compassion on the Hulk and fails the audition on purpose.
The FF annual features the wedding and every Marvel character to date , even Stan and Jack make an appearance.
Avengers 2 has the best cover ever on any comic. I'll fight you over this.

Icctrombone , you must like this cover, which came out the summer before. Whenever you compare another artist to John Buscema, you're just making a fool out of the other artists.

Narrowing it down to just 3 was tricky, since there are a lot of good picks here. Since I had to choose, I went with Amazing Spider-man Annual 1, 2 and 5 only because these just happened to be the first of this bunch that I read. It seemed in these early days that there was an actual effort to make these Annuals special and worth the cost for both regular readers who followed the monthly titles, or new fans who just wanted to see what all the fuss was about!
