Nice! Though it only lasted 11 issues, Menace was a solid title. #5 features Lee/Everett's Zombie, Simon Garth, a character who would be successfully revived in the 70s, and the ultimate issue boasts a legendary Harry Anderson cover, as well as I, The Robot, which showcases some very early sci-fi work by John Romita, Sr. The robot (later called M-11 in reference to this title) would return as a member of the Agents of Atlas. Can't wait to read it. I bought it because of #5, well, I could have gotten a reprint of just that issue, so that is not entirely true. I wanted the other stories as well, but #5 was my main motivation to get it. I cannot miss that Everett art! And it's not in any of my Everett collection books. The cover, and the first page of the story are in Fire & Water, but not the entire story.

I was flipping through my hardcover copy of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein illustrated by Bernie Wrightson today and I decided that I need more Wrightson art in my life. So I picked up Creepy Presents Bernie Wrightson. I then saw they had Creepy Presents Steve Ditko next to it. I picked that up also because...well...it's Ditko. I payed $15 each for them. Nice books, I grew up reading Eerie & Creepy Magazine.

Plus I really like older horror stories.

Found a few interesting things while I was out and about today. They're a little rough, but they only cost $1 each, so you can't beat that. Also grabbed the following, also for $1/book; Planetary #1 - 6 (I already have the TPB, but I love floppies) Agents of Atlas (mini) #1 - 6 Agents of Atlas (first ongoing) #1 - 11 Shanna the She-Devil is one of the greatest short-run comics ever! I have a VF #1 that is SWEET!

I picked up many of those bronze age books for a song as well, last year. I guess there's no real interest in those types of books. You're right in that there is little interest in most Bronze Age books. I probably could have put together close to full runs of both John Carter and Kill out of those same boxes yesterday if I had wanted. On the plus side, it's great for folks like us who still want those books, because a lot of them can be found really inexpensively these days.

You can't go wrong with a buck for one comic. Heck, comics are 4 dollars these days for decompressed non stories. The last few days I've been reading Some bronze age Superman's and It's refreshing to read done-in- one stories.

Except for John Carter 11 (origin of Dejah Thoriss) and 18 (first Frank Miller art for Marvel) both of those books go for stupid prices for what they are and are the only 2 from the run I don't have. I don't want to spend more than $5 on either and I have been outbid going on 17 times for #11 on Lonestar auctions over the last year and a half (I am currently being outbid for the 17th time on an auction that ends next week). Last time I saw #18 at a con in VF/NM someone was asking $50 for it. I just find it odd those 2 are the ones getting all the speculation on them out of that run. -M

You can't go wrong with a buck for one comic. I estimate I got over 1200 comics on Ebay over the last decade or so for a buck each (or les)...in high grade and with bags and boards most of the time. That included a large run of dollar cover Superman Family comics that I won for about 55 cents each.

I placed an order from MyComicShop the other day and here's what arrived yesterday. I was able to complete a few series. Captain America #286-289. (Some great Mike Zeck covers.) Iron Man #178-188. (Completes my run from #115-277) Young Justice #1,13 and 80 page giant. (Completes series.) Excalibur #83 and 100. (Still need #125 to complete series.) Sandman Mystery Theatre #61,62 and 66. (Completes series) Suicide Squad #23 and 57. I paid a little more than I would have liked for #23 which is the 1st Cameo appearance of Oracle. (Still need #48 and #49 to complete series.)

I've been able to realize similar prices buying lots; for example, Defenders 1-50 worked out to about a buck per comic, as did Master of Kung-Fu 20-69.

One of the LCS around here has a giant warehouse, and they open it twice per year to the public. You could fill a long box (approximately 350 comics) for $225 (now since raised to $250), and I have probably done that at least 4 times (if not more), which works out to about $.71/comic when sales tax is factored in. It how I put together most of the long runs of Captain America, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor, as well as almost completing lesser-lengthed series like Defenders, Dr. Strange (both), Excalibur, MOKF, Power Man and Iron Fist, and TOD.
I also picked up about 2/3 of the entire New Mutants series for $.20/book at Half-Price Books back in 2013. They were bundling five issues together for $1, which seemed ridiculous to not take advantage of. I've since completed the entire series, and it cost me less than $56 to do.
