Didn't buy them, but got some cool Marvel comics in a trade on Kijiji. I sent the four issues of Batman Year #1, some Marvel Team-Up (Including #1), some legends of the dark knight, recent detective comics, a few other comics I don't remember, for Thor 126,140 Journey into Mystery #116,124 Fantastic Four #74 Daredevil #23 Amazing Spider-Man #49, 53 Pretty excited about this trade, can't wait to read them! You got a steal. I still sent around 60 comics. I had to send pictures of every comics, so he could grade them, and then he said I could pick X amount of money in his comics. I'm still super happy in the trade, but he is really happy too, he said the value are equal, so it's a win-win situation! The 2 ASM are not in great shape. He graded them 4.5

After a good long while of watching all of the cool comics you guys have been buying, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a comic...
It's a doozy -- and it'll be here Wednesday, according to the good people at FedEx...

Took advantage of some sales this past week to pick up the following books:
Shanna the She Devil - #2 and 3 (plus better copies of #4 and 5, which I got just a couple of weeks ago) Skull the Slayer - #4, 5 and 7 Frankenstein - #12 What If - #21, 31 and 35 Spectacular Spider-Man - 29 issues between #151 and #200. I had a number of books in that range already, so I decided to push on and complete the run to 200 (I already had 201 - 203 because of Maximum Carnage, which I bought years ago). The Flash - about 15 issues total, some Messner-Loebs, some Waid, some Johns, and some New 52.

Some recent pick ups First some Spectacular Spidey goodness. A few issues I was missing...I love the look of Tombstone and have always loved Scorpion. Next, the Batman #366 and Daredevil Love and War. Both great stories, both with amazing artwork! Finally, I am slowly making my way through my Ms. Marvel issues that I purchased a long while back. I opened #12 and look what I found! My first double cover! And in VF/NM shape on both. Not sure if this does much value wise but its staying because it is super cool.

Double covers are always exciting, the four-leaf clovers of the comics world. Congrats, Floyd!
Tax season affords us a modicum of discretionary spending, so naturally we blow it on comics.
My better half, Jill Maurice loves Neil Gaiman's Sandman. She treated herself to Sandman #1 in stunning 9.6 with white pages:
I went old school, opting for Atlas' Men's Adventures #27 in FN+ with Off-White pages:
This is from the tail-end of the Atlas hero revival (May '54). It has a Carl Burgos cover, while Dick Ayers handles the penciling chores on the interior Human Torch story. A cat named Mort Lawrence, who I'm not familiar with, provides the art for the Captain America story, and Bob Powell renders the Sub-Mariner. It should arrive later this week.

Was a gorgeous spring-like day here today, temps near 70, clear skies, and I had the day off, so I decided to take a drive to a shop a few towns over that has a separate discount storefront (over 40K $1 comics plus used trades and magazines at discount prices (usually $2.95 an issues). Spent a few hours browsing and picked up a bunch of stuff... Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction #6, Frank Frazetta Fantasy Illustrated #3 and the first volume of Mice Templar... a stack of Savage Sword of COnan issues including #67, 87, 89, 140, 150, 151, 153, 172, 178, 183, 186, 188 and 190... a pile of Dark Horse Conans including Conan #4, 5 and 42-44 (leaving me needing 1 issues to replace the entire run in floppy format), Conan the Cimmerian #15, 18, 21 ans 22 (about half of what I was missing from that run) and Road of Kings #8, 11 and 12 (Roy Thomas's return which I missed entirely when it came out)... a handful of Hawkman stuff including the 2 issues of Hawkgirl I needed, the Hawkman index done by ICG/Eclipse in the 80s, a Secret Files and 5 issues of the Palmiotti & Gray run from the 2002 series... a handful of Moorcock related comics including Hawkmoon: Mad God's Amulet #1, issue 2 of the Pacific Elric series and all but 2 of the issues I needed of the Michael Moorcock Multiverse DC put out under the Helix imprint... and some various and sundry stuff... The Marvel Milestone Edition of Avengers #1, issue 14 of Jonny Quest, issue 5 of Dynamite's Savage Tales anthology, most of the Time Masters mini, an issue of the DeMatteis run of Spectre, one of the Darwyn Cooke variants DC did a year or so ago and issues 2 and 3 of Flash (1987 series). So not a bad haul, knocked a lot off my want list and had a nice ride to enjoy the spring weather after being cooped up all winter. -M

So I stopped into NE Comics in Cambridge yesterday after a conference across the street... picked up the 1989 Captain Marvel special that I knew existed and hadn't ever seen, a couple 70s Uncle Scrooges, and THIS (for only $5).. this isn't my actual copy, but the one I have is pretty darn good for a 70+ year old comic, the cover isn't attached, but it's in good shape, and everything else is in really great condition.. I'm super excited! I also ducked into a Savers I don't usually go to on the way into work today, and picked up a really great copy of Conan #64 (which I have, but couldn't resist at .99) and a bunch of random Marvel UK titles from the 90s, which should be fun.

OK, here it is: I won a recent auction at Heritage. (And yes, I sold the right kidney to pay for it...) I brought it to the school I work at to show it to a fellow comic geek that I work with. One of my students guessed that I paid $50 for it. Ha! I have been working a complete run of Amazing Spider-Man for almost 11 years, and I am just down to 1 issue -- #1. I dunno what else to say -- it presents better than its grade, but it's definitely a 6.0. -- Tom

I love that it has a date stamp on it. For me, it just gives vintage books a little more character. Looks really nice though Killer Bass, congrats.

I've been on a bit of a buying binge recently, both online and at my LCS.
Mostly, I've been working filling gaps to build up a Spider-Man run into around late 1980s, and getting more Don Newton Batman work. I bought Amazing Spider-Man #273, 274, 278, 283-288, Marvel Tales 259, 287-289, and Spectacular Spider-Man #116, 121, 127, 130. Between Essential, other TPBs, Marvel Tales, and actually Amazing issues, I'm now going to have an Amazing Spider-Man run from 1 to around 280. Most of those are via Essentials though.
On the Batman side, I bought Batman #353, 365, 367 and Detective Comics #506-509, 529, 533, 570. Most issues have some Newton art.
I also bought a bunch of Marvel Comics Presents issues. I plan to read through some full serials, including the big 25-part Black Panther serial.
Today, I also bought Swamp Thing #18 from the 1970s series.
Finally, my used copy of Essential Thor vol. 4 showed up in the mail today. This was a big get for me, because it's out of print, and goes for amazingly high prices online. It's an extreme outlier. I regularly see copies online selling for over $100, so I was happy to get it for under $30.
