As soon as I get #405, I'm going to take a break for a while. I want to save about $300 for a low-grade (but not TOO low-grade!) copy of Detective Comics #359, with the first appearance of Barbara Gordon. Hey I got a question for alla youse, using Hoosier as my guinea pig. If, like Hoosier, you collect A title of someone who has multiple published (Spidey, Bats, Supey etc) do you also add to your run any books a story may be continued in? As an example, Hoosier, you have Detective 400 - 965(give or take...too lazy to make it exact), would part of your 'tec run include all of the Knightfall books published in other titles? Do our Amazing Spider-Man collector's include Spectacular issues that are part of extended stories? The next question is would you have multiples of crossovers so they could be filed with respective runs? So a Knightfall set with your 'tec books and one with your Batman run. That way if you were reading through Batman you wouldn't have to pull out your Detective boxes as well. This makes bloody good sense to me. Surely some of you are that anal...right I've got the entire Starblast crossover with FF, Quasar, & Secret Defenders filed together for when I ever read it. Only had the books for a couple of years now. All my Superman main titles from the Man Of Steel relaunch until the New 52 are lined up to be read in order. The years with the diamond logo are simple to line up, but the years before and after are a pain to figure out without a reading order. I won't do that again, and may separate them after I've read them all.

I wasn't going to get any older comics for a few weeks but I was looking on eBay to see what Batman #343 might cost me (I have every issue of Batman from #340 to about #410 (except #343), and most of those issues are from the period where the storylines in Detective and Batman were directly intertwined) and I found a pretty good price, and the same dealer had Frankenstein #10 and Detective #331 for reasonable prices. So I shrugged and said "what the heck" and bought them. Nice Gene Colan/Dick Giordano cover. Look at that lovely Romita/Kane art! Infantino/Giella cover. I think this is the first issue of Detective Comics with a single book-length story.

Man, One mans treasure... About 3 years ago I got rid of all my Colan Batman books from that era. They were entertaining but I'm not a huge Batman fan. I got a nice price for the first Black Mask but why is this issue pricey ?

He and I look out for each other and he'll get me the books this upcoming Friday. So, I have 7 Hedge books so far and looking forward re-reading the two books that he found for me.

Tintin in Tibet is especially good. It's not your typical Tintin adventure, but it is an excellent read nonetheless. Tintin in the Congo is a very early story and it's racist and colonial contents have not aged well. Still, it's interesting to see Hergé bringing the Tintin series together.

I got all three of these book for $17, not including postage. Batman #343 was around $4 in F/VF condition.

I've not been buying much of anything this year, due to my upcoming wedding and the need to conserve funds for that. However, I did treat myself to issue #2 of Angel and the Ape this week, which I saw on eBay for a really low price. The sticker on it says FN-, although I'd say it was more like a solid VG, but I'm not one to quibble on condition -- as long as it's readable and tightly bound, which it is. This is only the second issue of this Silver Age series I've picked up, but I am intending to work towards owning all 8 issues of the original run and I'd also like to pick up the 4-issue mini-series from 1991 as well.

I've slowed down on my buying too, and haven't bought anything online the last several months. But I did pick up a few odds and ends today at the LCS: 4 or 5 issues of Super-Villain Team-Up, 2 issues of Arak, and a copy of Black Goliath #1, all at good prices. I saw a few other things I might want at the same place so I'll probably be back there next week.

I had to slow down my buying also because I was repurchasing books mistakenly. I have to update my records. Hate when that happens.

Thanks for posting that. I finally just worked out what was so odd about Marvel comics of the period. It's their frequent use of the word 'uncanny'. I live in Scotland and synonyms for 'Canny' include: wise, sensible, judicious, circumspect, careful, prudent, cautious, clever.
So 'uncanny' must mean ignorant, stupid, ill-judged, imprudent, reckless, and more stupid.
"This may be our strangest battle -- our most stupid struggle!"

Canny, as you say, means shrewd or clever (although the colloquial Scottish definition of canny is nice or attractive, is it not?), but uncanny is not a strict opposite of canny. Also, uncanny isn't, in my experience growing up in southern England, a particularly uncommon word.
