My 2020 Batman collecting continues apace, despite my resolution to slow it down. We (me, wife, and daughter) took an hour drive out for something non-comics related today, which turned out to be a bust. We passed a comic shop I've seen before but never visited, so to try to save the day (at least for me), I went inside and found this: It's been on my list, but I didn't do any price comparison yet. Still, I had a pocketful of cash and I know they weren't asking for an outrageous amount of money. So one more Batman comic down.

Lot of that going around right now, and probably for the foreseeable future. On the plus side, don't you just love stopping in a comic shop you've never been in before and finding something you want at a price you are willing to pay? I used to travel a lot when I worked in the natural gas industry, all over the states of PA, WV, KY, and VA, and I would come across comic shops, antique malls, indoor flea markets, etc., in all of these little towns. After a day on the road out in the field, I would stop in and poke around, and occasionally I would find some real gems tucked away along these back roads. Got a Marvel Two-In-One #1 for $15 in Wellsboro, PA, almost a complete run of Thunderbolts from #1-60 for $1 apiece in Wise, VA, a handful of Captain America issues in the early 200s really cheap in Pikeville, KY, and a bunch of $1 books in Huntington and Morgantown, WV.

Indeed... when I was working for a book store that involving traveling to conferences to sell the books... my favorite part of the trip was staking out the local comic book and/or used book shops... I got quite a bit of cool stuff that way!

This is out-of-print, and the least-expensive copy I've seen on Amazon is $90; there was a copy of eBay recently that I made an offer of $75 for, and it sold for $95. When I stopped by the LCS in the mall near my office, which just reopened in the past few weeks, they had a copy of this on the shelf for list price of $39.99, which was $42.79 with tax. That was a no-brainer pick-up. Yeah, it happens.

For my last week, a bunch of Spanish editions bought at an eBay like site, called todocolección: Arrived on Monday, ordered on the 25th. These were relatively expensive, but in great shape.
Arrived on Tuesday, ordered on the 22nd. From my old shop, arrived Wednesday, ordered on the 25th. At long last, the last hole in my Byrne run of the "Damned X". I had to order it three times to actually get it, not counting a fourth time when the order wasn't even accepted, and when it finally arrives, it's damaged on transit This came on Thursday, ordered on the 22nd. These two came from two different Spanish sellers, ordered on the weekend, they arrived on Friday, as the ones below. **Moderator note: the hidden images below are NSFW** {Spoiler}

Finally, a picture of the whole haul, a 100 day hunt that almost coincided with the shutdown period around here:

I was ecstatic to get 13 All-Star Squadrons for just $20.50 (plus $8.98 shipping) on ebay. #1 is not in such great condition, but the others are very nice. Congrats. It's great to see that this underrated series is still quite affordable. I was lucky enough to complete about 85% of the series from day 1 while it was still in print. Toward the end, I lost interest and quit buying it, but I was later able to buy the last few issues quite cheaply and completed the run.

It's like finding exotic treasures. I don't travel much, but when I do, I always keep an eye open for the comic book shops (wife and daughter: Family vacation to Disney World! Me: I wonder what comic book shops are in Florida...?). Of course, as you end up whittling down your list, the chances of being disappointed increase, and I find myself spending more time going through the bargain bins to see if there's something I'm willing to try for two bits which I wouldn't buy otherwise.

A huge thank you to MRP for the care package. He shipped me a ton of awesome books from the USA to the land of maple syrup for free.
I tried to include a picture but I can't seem to make it work...
Bat Lash (60s) 3, 5 Bold Adventure 1 (Pacific) Pacific Presents 4 Showcase #102, 103 DC Special 25 Showcase 57 Zot! #5, 10 Criminal: Bad Night TPB Marvel GN: Kull: The Vale of Shadow
I can't thank you enough buddy! Public libraries are closed around here (well they just reopened this week), local comic book shows are all cancelled, store just reopened.... It was hard to find new reading material in the past few months!
