You can see a huge difference in the covers from the silver and Bronze Age as compared to the modern era. There's more than a few of your comics that I'd like to read just because of the cover. I agree. Silver and Bronze Age covers made you want to pick them up. Modern covers are just a bunch a kewl poses. Something that might look decent on a poster, but doesn't make me want to buy the comic.

Recent eBay purchase.. felt like treating myself to something nice. Have you read this series since you got it slabbed? This is pretty much the pinnacle of Deadpool for me. After this he went downhill. Mark Waid mini was the only thing Deadpool better to me than this series.

There were three early Hawkman books in the Lonestar auction that ended tonight, and I wound up winning one of them... Brave & the Bold #36, 3rd SA Hawkman and 1st Shadow Thief... it's a 3.5 but it looks like it will present well. We'll have to see when it gets here. -M

That looks pretty nice for a 3.5.

I did also enjoy the Priest run afterwards; same with the Paul Chadwick run. Some of the Duggan/Posehn run was fun... not great but enjoyable. The only person that got Wade well was Fabian who's Cable/Deadpool run, 1 to 27 is freaking incredible

Haven't read it since I was buying it as it came out. But I agree the Waid mini is the best thing I've read with Deadpool's name on it. He nailed almost every aspect right and I am a big fan of Ian Churchill, so it's a win/win. I haven't read anything Deadpool since Agent X and his portrayal in other medias just turned me off to what he had become. I made it through 10 minutes of the movie, and was like "nope". That said though I do like Fabian's writing so I will check out those issues, even if it's seeing if the local library has the TPB, if there is one yet. Thanks for the heads up.

Been enjoying my re-read of Concrete immensely so I decided to pick up something I hadn't read before - GIFTS OF THE NIGHT by Paul Chadwick & John Bolton. I haven't had a chance to read them yet - any opinions?

I think i may have purchased the first issue because I was buying most of Vertigo's output at the time. But if I did and read it I have no memory of it. Or it's possible I didn't because I really don't like Bolton's art.

You want Classics? You want Westerns? You want War comics? You want a little of everything, including a smidgen of super-hero and horror faire?
Then come dollar bin diving with me! Picked these up today-- everything was $1.00, regardless of what the tag might say. Sorry, no romance in this haul... which made me just a mite sad.
However, I did pick up a few other non-classic books (post 2009) for the same price, namely a super nice copy of the somewhat-semi-"hot" Miles Morales Halloween Comicfest #0... for a dollar.
That is a very nice haul--especially the Bronze Age books.
