I've seen several people here praise Metamorphosis Odyssey, so I bought the Dreadstar: The Beginning hardcover reprinting Metamorphosis Odyssey, The Price, and the Dreadstar graphic novel. Pictures man.

I mentioned this previously, but it arrived in the mail today. Got this from ebay, started as a 99 cent bid. Paid a little more for it but well under FMV. Detective Comics 583 with the first appearance of Scarface/The Ventriloquist (plus a nifty Mignola cover). I bought this off the stands way back when but moved on from most of my Batbooks when I moved from New England to Ohio and have been putting a couple of Bat runs together the past few years. I have a pretty solid run of Tec from 579-700+ that only had 3 holes. This was one of them. I'll look for the other two at my next show most likely (they both feature 1st appearances of minor Bat-Rogues from the same era) but fall into that hole of not dollar books but not wall books so become harder to find as those types of books aren't often brought to shows. -M

So did I (well less with my pull list discount at the time) the first time I bought it, off the racks. When I've seen raw copies at shows, it's been priced around $50 (as high as $75 in pandemic price inflation year) and was moving at that. Now it's settled in to the $25-$30 range on ebay. I paid about half that with shipping. I've watched and been bidding on copies for about 6 months now, and this is the first I have seen that wasn't a complete beater, go for under $20. -M

Ordered on the 14th, invoiced and paid on the 29th, sent on October 15th (yep, a whole month) via USPS + Correos and received yesterday. Mile High (7th back-issue order): 3rd consecutive order with no customs upset (no taxes). As long as it keeps this way, Mile High will be competitive (provided the proper discount). As I was expecting, given the selection of comics ordered, the downgrade was more significant than in the last two orders. While then it was below 2 points, in this case it was above, bringing the total average very close to that psychological barrier. As for ASM #194, based on the partial, small picture provided in their newsletter, I wagered it would be better than VFN, and it was, even if it has a small printing error (which according to CGC doesn't compute), Some people actually go for this kind of thing, but I would've preferred a "normal" copy. Anyway, a raw VFN/NM #194 for 200€? I don't think I'll see another.

A modern day classic. One of the best Batman stories.

Is that the first Harley Quinn ? Batman Adventures #12 is the 1st app of Harley in Comics. Mad Love might be the first "in continuity" appearance though. -M

So I did a thing. Last show I went to, I was looking to get 1 big book and I had one in particular in mind, but I couldn't find a copy in the price range I wanted to pay. I ended up getting a different book, with the idea that I would look again at the next show I went to. That show was supposed to be this past Sunday, but it wound up getting cancelled (I'd go into reasons but it would violate the no politics policy here, suffice to say if you know what town I live in and have seen any of the headlines about it the past month or so you might be able to guess), and I am not sure I will get to another show this year (the next Jim & Dan show is scheduled the same Sunday as my wife's family's annual Christmas gathering and I am not sure I can manage to be at both places), so I was tooling around the bay looking for copies of the book, and lo I found one with a 99 cent starting bid that stayed in my price range (I wanted a copy for under $50 and this came in at just over $40 with shipping and tax included), so I now have it. My Silver Age Hawkman run was missing #1 and 4. #4 is likely out of my budget, but DC kindly released a facsimile edition of it last week. And now I have a #1, so for me that run is complete. The only SA Hawkman solo I don't have now is Brave & Bold 34 and I might look at trying for a low grade copy next year, we'll see. It's FMV is likely out of my comfort zone, but we'll see what I can turn up after the first of the year. -M
