68 for the month, thanks to two large volumes worth of samurai comics. My favorite read this month has been Usagi Yojimbo Saga vol. 1, an easy choice.

Made a good rally this month, regrettably thanks to being off from work so much due to the concussion. Still not going to come close to matching the amount of books I've read for the past two years, nor likely the quality since I'm mostly pursuing runs these days. Still, I really enjoyed rediscovering Usagi Yojimbo and the Simonson X-Factor this month.

Finally completed P. Craig Russell's adaptation of Ring of the Nibelung, as recommended by mrp. From an execution standpoint, it earns a solid 10.0. However, my personal enjoyment of it was scaled down to an 8.5 for two reasons: 1. Russell's style has changed quite a bit from the work I'm used to seeing. It's a lot less fluid/psychadelic, and that feels a bit odd in a story about gods and magic. An early concept sketch for this adaptation was included in the back, drawn in 1978, and it was much more in line with what I expected from the series. The artwork was still phenomenal, but it was almost too meticulous. 2. I first watched Fritz Lang's 5 hour epic adaptation of this same myth,"Die Nibelungen," this past summer, and then two more time since. I even showed it to my mythology class, and they devoured it. But it stems from a different version of the myth than what Russell is working from. Lang pulled from the Germanic version while Russell pulls from an opera based on the Norse version. Thus, many of the basic plot points are the same, and most of the characters are the same in name, but the motivations and characterizations are completely different. I spent far too much time being surprised by, and often disappointed by, the source myth itself, and that distracted me from enjoying an otherwise outstanding labor of artistry and love. So I highly recommend it for others and am a bit disappointed that I didn't get maximum enjoyment out of it, myself. I have this on my shelf to read, too... soon, I hope Just finished... man, that's a pretty book. It was quite fun seeing the different interpretations of the Norse heroes, and the story is mostly new to me (I've only seen the Bugs Bunny version previously), so that was nice. I'd give it about an 8.5 as well, I think

11 comics read for December, ten were in a TPB. Total of 1032 if my math isn't too far off. Pretty sure I broke 1000 though.
I have a small stack of comics on the nightstand I'll get through here and there, but I'm now going to focus on a little prose so I don't think I'll break 1000 comics in 2015, or even come close to it. I will keep track of what I've read though. It comes in handy.

1565 comics for me this year which I believe is less than last year but it was a fun year with a lot of diversity genre wise. Here's to an even better 2015!

I think I will give this a shot in 2015. I'm a bit of a list nut at least when it comes to listening to records. I've been keeping tabs of what record album/cds I complete listening since October of 1996. I might as well add my other obsession.

I guess this would be my 10 favorites of 2014. I've been on more of a science fiction kick this past year and checked out a few different 2000 AD series.
1 Fatale (read monthly) 2 Judge Dredd Case Files (vol. 2-4) 3 Zombo! (both collections) 4 Shakara (both collections) 5 The Sixth Gun (reading monthly, but quite a few issues behind new one) 6 Slaine (Warrior's Dawn, Time Killer, Slaine the King) 7 The Incal 8 East of West 9 Prophet 10 The Technopriests

December total: 108
Highlights: Despite Bendis' problems with dialogue and my not being a fan of the Mark Bagley artwork once I got into it I could not put down their Ultimate Spider-Man.
Other highlights: Alan Moore's Swamp Thing continues to be excellent.
Total starting in May: 438

Decembers total was 53. That might be the lowest ever of any year I've been part of the club. Too many obligations a sick wife and heavy mail was the cause. That brings my total for 2014 to 1129. Last year I read 1400 so that's a big drop off. No complaints, this isn't a competition and if it becomes one, it will suck the fun out of it.

I kinda failed book-keeping wise... too many different titles (new stuff).. I kinda got bogged down on record keeping and gave up... I was pretty close to 2000 comics for the year, though.
Hoping to do better this year!
