So I read the 1st two issues of the New Magnus... meh. I don't like the time travel aspect. While reversing Asimov's laws is intriguing, I'm not sure it'll work all that well the way it's set up. If I come across them in a bargain bin great, but I don't think I'll be pulling any more.

This is shaping up to be my biggest month yet, I'm one floppy away from my January total, which was my largest month to date, and it's only the 10th. But if I don't get an order of floppies in soon I'll be back to my Mickey and MAD hardcovers, which take a while to get through.

Archie has been having some major hiccups in their publishing schedule recently, the result being that all of their comics seem to come out at the same time. As a result, this week I got the trifecta - Archie, Life with Archie and Afterlife with Archie.
Archie #655 was a fun enough issue. I thought it came out too soon - it was sort of a parody of the Guardians of the Galaxy, so putting this issue out in August would make more sense to me. Archie and Jughead go to space and join the "Good Guys of the Galaxy," who are trying to spot a villain who is conquering the galaxy with the Miracle Mitten. Sorry, Thanos, but the Infinity Gauntlet is old news. A decent issue written by Tom DeFalco, this one also has appearances by obscure and forgotten Archie characters like Cosmo the Merry Martian and Super Duck.
Life with Archie #35 was, as I expected, a Jughead spotlight issue. In one universe, we got Jughead's wedding to Ethel, while int he other, we got the birth of Jughead and Midge's baby. All of that clears the decks for the death of Archie next issue, which seemed to be set up in the "...marries Betty" universe. One thing I noticed was some of the lettering got wonky towards the end of the book - random balloons were italicized for no apparent reason. Seemed like a goof up.
Afterlife with Archie #5 finally arrived. The title is supposed to be monthly, but it was 10 weeks between issues. The first arc ended, so it will be interesting to see if new readers come on board once the inevitable TPb comes out with the first arc. I'm also hoping the series doesn't lose too much momentum because of the long delay; it was getting a lot of buzz after #4, but 10 weeks is a long time and the buzz died out pretty much by the time this came out.
Also, we finally got the sales figures for Life with Archie. As I suspected, it's sales that drove the end of the title. Last year's average was just 8700. And I guess not enough people were buying the trades to make it viable with such small circulation.

Mostly reading through some stuff I have out from the library. I read the first Daredevil by Waid hc-I am missing 1 issue and it was collected in the hc, so I reread the whole early run to read that one, but it's good stuff so I didn't mind. Started making my way through the Bone all in one edition, only a couple of issues into the series currently, and also just started on Daytrippers, having read the first issue, curious to see where it goes after the way the first issue ended. The only comic I own that I read the past few days was the Cyan issue of the new Vertigo quarterly anthology. Some good stuff in it though.

I didn't think I needed my 2013 list so I didn't try to copy it, but then I realized it's a bookmark for series I'm following. Anyone happen to have a copy of that thread? I think my list was on page four.

One thing I noticed was some of the lettering got wonky towards the end of the book - random balloons were italicized for no apparent reason. Seemed like a goof up. A much bigger error that really upset me in this issue was Ms. Grundy and a completely healthy Cheryl Blossom showing up in the final panel of the wedding story. On the cusp of losing this amazing continuity, it outright hurt to see two of the biggest events that occurred in this title completely disregarded by the artist. Whoops.

I always wrote my lists and just pasted it to the CBR site. I have both years that I've been a part of on my computer.

Finished up Daredevil MMW Vol. 6... One of those I got as part of a lot for something else. Not bad. It features the big reveal of Daredevil secret identity to Karen Page... a sub plot against criminal mastermind Crime Wave, Foggy Nelson as DA, and a fun issue where DD fights Nighthawk. (which was the best of the group). It was a little disconcerting to have the status quo be so different from the later ones I read last week... Foggy breaks off his engagement to Debbie in issue 60 or so, while in issue 202 they're married and having issues. The ongoing Karen Page drama is a bit melodramatic for my tastes, but the art is excellent and more than makes up for it.

Oh yeah, it's all been good. I think the worst was the Silverwolf comics, but I still like them for some unexplainable reason. Mostly to laugh at what I thought was cool when I was 8. It's like rewatching Gremlins for the first time in thirty years and realizing it's not a terrifying horror movie.

I wish I could find that anthropomorphic cat-human nightclub bouncer with a lowrider comic I started and never finished when I was around ten. I think I got four or five pages in. I bet it's hilarious.

I'm not sure that I did this right. It kind of feels weird starting in the middle of the year but I don't think I can recall everything that I've read since January by month.
