hmmmm...I am wondering whether DC is planning to do something with Dick, Babs, or their son Jon, or if they only introduced these characters so they have someone popular to kill?

I would have absolutely no problem if DC were to kill off Barbara and Johnny Grayson as they weren't characters who existed on the original Earth 2. |

I would have absolutely no problem if DC were to kill off Barbara and Johnny Grayson as they weren't characters who existed on the original Earth 2. I'm the opposite of you Dr. Poison; I know they weren't existed in the original Earth 2; but just to kill them off sounds kind of ridiculous to me. Matter of fact, it's doesn't make any sense to me at all. |

Here are the possibilities that I can see at this point:
1) Dick, Barbara, and Johnny were created to show the reader what its like for a civilian to endure the hopeless misery of a dying planet. They are all doomed to die. The only reason that its Dick, Barbara, and Johnny is because Dick and Barbara are already popular characters. The "what if they got married and had a son" aspect is the dream of many fans. But they were created to be cannon fodder. I hate this idea.
2) Barbara and Johnny were created to die so that Dick has a reason to become the Earth-2 Robin/Nightwing/or even-newer-Batman. I also hate this idea, but not as much as #1.
3) Dick and Johnny were created to die so that Barbara could be the Earth-2 Batgirl or Batwoman. I also hate this idea quite a bit.
4) Dick and Barbara were created to marry, have Johnny, and then DIE so that little Johnny can be the all-new Earth 2 Robin. I hate this idea the least, but I can't say I really like it either.
5) The Grayson Family was created to be a new masked vigilante family on Earth 2 post-Convergence. I don't really see the point of this.
6) The Grayson Family was created to endure this series and overcome. They will have a happy ending and go on living a normal life. We won't hear about them again. This would be acceptable. And I can ALMOST see the point. But it could be a lovely story. This isn't necessarily what I want to happen, but its the best option I have thought of so far.
I suppose I wouldn't mind them being supporting characters in a post-Convergence Batman/Huntress title or even the main Earth 2 title.

I would prefer him to be either Earth 2 Robin and/or Nightwing and leave the other Batman alone.3) Dick and Johnny were created to die so that Barbara could be the Earth-2 Batgirl or Batwoman. I think Earth 2: World's End is going to be like Crisis on Infinite Earths, at least for me. I had to wait for the conclusion of CoIE to decide whether or not I liked it. My final decision was that I did NOT like it. Yes, George Perez's art was gorgeous. Yes, the story was captivating. Yes, we got to see a LOT of heroes. But they killed the Flash, Supergirl, Huntress (MY FAVORITE!), Kole (who I was warming up to), Earth 2 Robin, Aquagirl, the Earth 2 Green Arrow, etc.
Earth 2 World's End is about a lot of characters that I like. The ending is going to dictate whether or not I like it.

I can clearly see where are you coming from Dr. Poison on Option 2 here. You've made a good points of them taking up page space and all of which you wanted to spend more time on the original Earth 2 characters.

This is a sore spot for me. It would be better for them to not create the kid than to kill the kid.
I just thought of another possibility though. What if Dick and Johnny become the new Batman and Robin? (Not saying I want this to happen, just saying its another legitimate possibility.)

The hairstyle was kind of popular back in the day. I am sure if Kole were still alive she would have changed it long ago.
I didn't think her costume was an eyesore. I thought it looked appropriate for someone with her powers.
I suppose it doesn't matter though. She is LONG gone and will most likely never be heard from again.
