The Rocketeer, The Spirit, Luther Arkwright and many others mentioned alredy would have made my list, so some others.... Vanth Dreadstar.... The protagonist of Starlin's Metamorphosis Odyssey and later the DReadstar series from Epic was a favorite from the first story I read of his, and a prototypical Starlin protagonist. Syzyg, Lord Papal and Oedi could also make my list from this epic. Lobster Johnson Mignola's quintessential pulp hero thriving in the horrors of the milieu Mignola and company created with Hellboy and the BPRD. Any of the BPRD and Hellboy himself could have a place here for me... Jon Sable Mike Grell's 80s action star and merc fueled a number of great stories Scorpio Rose after encountering creative obstacles with DC, Englehart nad Rogers took their planned Madame Xanadu stories and created Scorpio as a vehicle for them with Eclipse... Chance Falconer... James Robinson and Paul Smith's plucky heroine that is the daughter of her world's equivalent of the sorcerer supreme caught in numerous adventures with her pet dragon and the sheer will to persevere. hmm all I got for now, I am sure as soon as I hit create post a slew more will come to me... -M

Luther Awkright, Rueben Flagg and Company, Quantum and Woody.
Luther Awkwright is a dimension hopping secret agent with psychic powers who saves parallel universes from a omniversal threat. One of the finest series ever.
Rueben Flagg is an incorrigable, womanizing former actor that gets stuck in a cushy job as a Plexus Ranger for the O'Hare International Plexus mall only to discover a conspiracy that threatens the entire world, such as it is. A hilarious scoundrel that means well, but often slips with his vices. Then there's Raul, a talking cat with an aptitude for computers and politics.
Quantum and Woody are former best friends who were split apart for years, then were given superpowers in a lab accident while investigating the deaths of their fathers. The twist is that they can't stand each other these days, but if they don't click their individual quantum bands together once a day, they disincorporate. On top of that, Quantum is a straight-laced, Black conversative, and Woody is a White jackass who grew up on the streets, which leads to all kind of sterotype bashing. Oh, and they're not a couple. Do Priest and Bright own the characters or does Valiant ? They currently have an ongoing from Valiant. That's a good point. Valiant does own them, but I believe it is a creator-participation deal. Priest and Bright had the opportunity to buy them outright, but elected not to. Valiant did consult with them before launching Asmus' series, but I'm not sure if that was just courtesy or a requirement. Priest supposedly loves the new series.
They don't actually have an ongoing from Valiant at the moment. They have the Q2 mini by Priest and Doc, and they just finished the excellent The Delinquents mini, which also involved Archer and Armstrong. There's also a giant-sized annual that was supposed to come out this week, but my LCS didn't recieve it. I'm betting there will be a new series once Q2 ends.

Pretty sure Valiant owns them but has a good relationship with Priest and Bright.
Valiant is keeping characters in rotation and titles set to a certain number. I think what they're doing is brilliant.

Steve Gerber created Destroyer Duck as a response to his lawsuit with Marvel over the ownership of Howard the Duck. Jack Kirby co-created.

Original Batwoman - Kathy KaneTo be honest here, I've always loved the original Batwoman (Kathy Kane) in the early days of the Silver Age and this costume is sleek, gorgeous colors, great design, and most importantly - simply a Classic! Batwoman was created by Bob Kane and Sheldon Moldoff with writer Edmond Hamilton under the direction of editor Jack Schiff, as part of an ongoing effort to expand Batman's cast of supporting characters. To me, when both Kane and Moldoff created this character it's was a perfect antidote to balance in terms of colors, design, and substance. I just loved this character and certainly a favorite of mine for years. I wished DC Comics used this concept again and I don't mind it one bit if this character existed in Earth 2. It would be a perfect complimentary piece to EARTH 2 BATMAN shown below.

Except, neither of those characters is creator-owned...they are corporate owned characters.

I don't think there is a superhero books currently being sold that is as fun AND action packed as the Lobster. Hellboy and the BPRD are probably my favorites but I also enjoy Usagi Yojimbo, the Goon and:

The Flaming Carrot by Bob Burden. It's and absurd and certainly goofy title, but also a heckuva lot of fun. Don't think I've never laughed harder from reading a comic book.

Nothing new here, loves me some Jon Sable, Grimjack, Nexus (o god Steve Rude man), Flagg, Badger, and Hellboy.
Black Beetle should get a pass cos Francavilla is just so damn good, and the book looks classic anyways.
I started out liking Dreadstar, discovered him in Epic (those were the days) and followed him to First, but eventually decided it was too similar to Warlock.

The Savage Dragon is the only book that I buy every month, and the most action packed book on the market.
