I have mixed feelings about the show.
I'm also not much of a Batman fan in any of his incarnations, mea culpa...
I believe I 1st saw the show in the early 80s as a 6 or 7 year old. I was disappointed that it wasn't a cartoon. The theme led me to be believe it was. I immediately thought Batman looked dumb (and still do). I also found the cliffhangers frustrating. I might only get to see 1 or 2 episodes a week so I always missed out on either the intro or the conclusion. Very frustrating. Of course I still watched the show whenever I could because Batman/comics.
What I like about the show as an adult: The incredibly bright colors and set pieces. It reminds me a lot of the way the original Star Trek looks. Visually it POPS. I can see the humor in the camp now, and I'm more aware of older actors at this point and enjoy their appearances.

You know after watching the full DVD set, plus the extras, I just realized one thing they never did with this series that I think maybe they should have done.
Only twice in the series, ( The pilot episode with the Riddler and a second season episode with the Joker) Bruce Wayne talks about his parents being murdered. But they never mentioned about Dick Grayson's background about his parents being murdered or that even about circus acrobat background and how he became Bruce Wayne's ward.
I'm guessing cause the show was aimed at kids, they didn't want them to feel sad or scared or whatever. But I think it's interesting that Bruce gets to bring up his parents murder, and nothing is said about Dick's family, accept of course that Aunt Harriet lives with them at Wayne Manor.

Yep, that was a Viewmaster. I had the Batman set as well. They still make them and for the last 2 Christmas's my sister has gotten me view master reels with family photo's in them. Do they really? Might have to look into that. Er, so to speak. In addition to the 3D effect, it was amazing to see how bright the colours were, as we had only seen all those shows in black and white - it would still be several years before we got a colour tv. Damn, I wonder if they had a Star Trek set? I would have loved to see that in the Viewmaster.

EDIT: Also, I found a Viewmaster Star Trek set on Ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Trek-View-Master-Packet-1968-/361173533210?pt=Art_Photo_Images&hash=item54179ec21a

We might even still have our original one back at my parents' house. I'm pretty sure it was there a few years ago when I was back and we were poking around some of our old books and things that are still there. Nice to know there was indeed a Star Trek set - and with a booklet. I don't remember any booklets with the Batman or other shows we had.

Back in the day, each set came with a booklet which usually got lost. That's probably why you don't remember any.
