CCF Special Announcement

One year ago today, our Beloved Leader Shaxper, started us on a new journey and established the Classic Comics Forum. A comic forum that set out to be the best place to discuss classic comics on the internet, that has grown into the best place to discuss comics on the internet. With 276 members, and fast approaching 2000 threads, we are a growing community, bursting with our enthusiasm for a medium. Let's take a moment to reflect on the last year, our highs and lows, and to look forward to the next one and many to come. And please, say thank you to Shaxper, for all the hard work he has done to provide this forum for us. And also, thank all your fellow members for making this community what it is.

Happy Anniversary CCF!

Look! Free comics!

A friendly reminder from your Classics Comics Forum that this Saturday is Free Comic Book Day. So be sure to swing by your local store and get some free goodies. Perhaps consider bringing along someone who doesn't read comics. This is a great opportunity to introduce the medium to people, particularly children.

Classic Moments

Members of the CCF community have posted 1000+ scans of classic comic pages, with the collection growing every day. Come bask in the many classic moments on display, or share some of your own favorites.

In the span of just a couple years, Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko introduced countless beloved superheroes (okay, only about twenty). We now have two review threads by two very distinct voices reviewing this era of Marvels. Join Trebor the Unconquered and Slam Bradley for a tour of the Marvel Age of Comics.

Rest in peace, Herb Trimpe

Many of us come to feel we know artists through the work we love so much. Our community reminisces on the career of Herb Trimpe, including his work on Hulk, Godzilla, Marvel Feature, G.I.Joe, and more. A great sequential artist whose passing is a loss to the comic book world. Our thoughts are with all whose life he was a part of, and all whose work he touched.

Rest in peace, Herb Trimpe

The review threads are often considered the heart of the CCF. Traditionally members have chosen particular series to read through and review. Now, the mad despot shaxper has given us a new type of review thread. He has taken the challenge of reviewing the career of the incredibly prolific Doug Moench, beginning with his early days writing short horror stories for Warren and Skywald.

Hellboy by acclaimed writer/artist Mike Mignola is among the most successful creator-driven projects of all time, enduring for over 20 years, and inspiring several acclaimed spin-offs, as well as adaptations into film and television. Our own thwhtguardian--whose name like Cthulhu's is unpronounceable by human tongues--has gone back to the very beginning. Not the beginning of the comics, mind you. But the beginning of the mythos, taking us through a chronology--which has been prepared really dutifully--through history from 1879 through 1948 and counting. Join us!

A long, long time ago, in a comic shop hopefully not too far away, Marvel published a series to tie in to a recent film. The film gained something of a cult following and the comic may have even spawned a spin-off or two over the decades. Join Confessor on a tour of Marvel's Star Wars.

And if you like what you see, we also have a review thread by thwhtguardian focusing on the daily newspaper strips.

Apparently this Star Wars thing was somewhat popular in its day. Wonder what became of it.
