They dropped the trailer for the last 7 episodes: Ian McDiarmid reprising his role as the Emperor, YES! Please, let's indeed get back to a SW story and characters that I do care about.

See I love the Rebels characters, and this iteration of Star Wars ranks as one of my all time favorites. I like this cast of characters better than any character I encountered in the EU outside of Thrawn and Mara Jade, and if sacrificing the EU was the cost of getting Rebels, I would do it 100 times out of 100. -M

I am far more interested in seeing how Rebels plays out than seeing them revisit a character that died 35 years ago.

I'll never get why people care about what is said to be canon and what isn't; the stories I like "count" and the ones I don't like I simply forget. Rebels has been a fantastic series in my mind, I loved the Clone Wars cartoons too, so it's definitely Star Wars in my eyes but so are a lot of the stories Dark Horse put out( especially books like Knights of the Old Republic, Dark Times and yes the whole Thrawn saga) and I haven't had a problem reconciling what I liked before with what's being put out now.

There's no reason Rebels couldnt exist in the EU, I mean, I haven't watched much of it yet, but that's not a time period they did much with.

So catching up on my Star Wars comics.. apparently they're shaking up the writers.. Gillen is moving to the main book, and Spurrier is taking over Doctor Aphra (which confuses me, she's fun, but run her course at this point).
Two things I found particularly interesting... Gillen is setting up his evil droids to be major bad guys.. not sure how that's going to work, as they obviously don't appear in the movies at all, and the Aphra stories are still between ANH and ESB. Hopefully it'll not just get dropped, but then again, it could be really bad, so maybe that'd be best.
The other is they made a big point in the latest Poe Dameron comic about how small and fragile the Resistance is, which, while not the impression I've gotten from anything before, definitely lines up with the Last Jedi.
I just wonder about this corning they're painting themselves into, you know?

That's true, but I would imagine Gillen will bring them along when he moves books

I miss Star Wars: Dark Times and the adventures of Dass Jennir, Bomo Greenbark and the crew of the Uhumele.

That's true, but I would imagine Gillen will bring them along when he moves books He could use them in the future perhaps, I wouldn't rule it out but he's five issues in at this point and hasn't mentioned them once yet, and they aren't mentioned in any of the solicits I've read going out to April so if he is planning to bring them over it isn't for a while down the road...and for that I'm glad as they wore pretty thin for me over time.

I didn't realize that many had come out already...damn! Anyway, he set them up in Doctor Aphra as making a big play in organized crime, when he could have just had them wander off into obscurity, or destroy them. Seemed like a long term plan, but maybe not. I agree they were getting old, but I feel like they could have been developed into something cool instead of a one off joke under the right story.

The teaser for Solo looked pretty decent; it's still worrying just how little build up there's been but nothing there made me think it wasn't going to be entertaining.

Dear Disney,
I’d really like to see the despecialized versions on DVD.

Dear Disney, I’d really like to see the despecialized versions on DVD. Yeah, I don't hate the special editions by any means but I'd love to be able to see the films the way I first saw them as a kid.

Dear Disney, I’d really like to see the despecialized versions on DVD. Won't see them at least until all the t's have been crossed, all the i's dotted and all the federal approvals/confirmations of the Fox sale to Disney are complete because of Fox owning the distribution rights to the original Star Wars movie (Ep. IV). The rights were part of the sale, but it's going to take a while before all the red tape is gone through for the deal to be finalized. -M
