Thank you for that comment which adds nothing to my post.
Anyone else?

Thank you for that comment which adds nothing to my post. Anyone else? I worked for years in an environment where everyone was obsessed with golf, where all they talked about was golf, where they ignored their jobs or short shifted their students or their co-workers just so they could gather and talk golf or slip out early to play golf. I see golf as an anathema rather than something appealing. It has become the harbor of rich white privilege and yuppie consumerism rather more than anything. -M

Well, I'm not rich, far from it. Especially in my trade.
But thanks for adding nothing to the discussion. And for, as usual, making assumptions about me, none of which are based on any logic.

Are there any people here who play or watch golf? Play, not any more. I still have my clubs in the garage, and every couple of years I go the driving range that is five minutes from my house to hit a bucket of balls, after which I am reminded why I don't go out on the course any more. I went to golf camp for a week for three summers when I was in middle school, because I really wanted to get to be as good as my dad was (he used to regularly shoot high 70s/low 80s at good courses). Sadly, however, I was born with zero athletic ability and limited hand-eye coordination, and nowadays, I'm plagued by a bad back, messed-up shoulders, and a damaged left ankle, so I'm limited to golfing on the Wii. Watch, never. My father watched a lot of golf when I was growing up and I just can't get into it because of the pace, and this is coming from a guy who LOVES baseball. I used to watch the British Open, because those courses are tough, but most of the US-based, non-major tournaments are on courses that aren't a challenge to the best pros and they can shoot 62s and 63s, which is like watching Man City play some League 2 team in the early rounds of the FA Cup (yeah, I like football too).

I always hated Alabama Slam_Bradley and I just can't stand Nick Saban neither ... I'm not a fan of Clemson ... but worst of the two evils lost and that's matters me the most!

But I always love watching Alabama lose. Both of my parents are University of Tennessee grads, and when I was in elementary school, I asked them what college teams I could root for (we lived in Western PA, where college football isn't as big as in the south). They told me that our house rooted for "Tennessee, and whoever's playing Alabama that week." I've lived by those words for nearly 40 years, and seeing this result makes me very happy. That said, I'm getting really tired of the same old Alabama-Clemson-Ohio State-Oklahoma grouping in the playoffs every year. Hate to say this, as I despise Notre Dame, but it sure was nice to have someone different in the hunt this season.

I find it a very compelling sport. And unpredictable at times. Where a top golfer can have a bad day and a less-than-stellar one (or one who is progressing) can surprise us all. It'll be interesting to see how the rule changes affect things in 2019...

It's a sport where anything can happen (within the context of the rules, of course)!
