I'm not really sure why this is being described as overly insensitive and offensive... I honestly don't get why either side would be offended or think this is a "gotcha" moment. The Bible says itself that God can use men to do his will. If one side believes it's God saving them, then how is the Red Cross, National Guard, other military, civilian responders and other people volunteering not angels to the people they rescue if that's what they wish to believe? To be perfectly honest anyone using this tradegy for a political pot shot, no matter who they are, should be questioning how they could better use their time. There wouldn't be any "angels" without the government providing them. You hit it on the head when you referred to people believing what they wish to believe. When I was a kid, I hung on to my belief in Santa as long as I possibly could b/c it was what I wished were true. Then I grew up and accepted reality. There is no Santa.

If someone's belief system isn't at the expense of someone one else's rights or safety than I guess I see it as a non-issue. The belief in actual angelic celestial creatures that help mankind, aside, it is not different than actual humans doing good things to others. Believing that an angel or a person with a kind heart was the motivation for someone doing something good, doesn't negate the good act itself. Either way, it's good the people there have the motivation they do to help all people no matter what their beliefs.

Believing that an angel or a person with a kind heart was the motivation for someone doing something good, doesn't negate the good act itself. Either way, it's good the people there have the motivation they do to help all people no matter what their beliefs. Well, ascribing other people's selfless actions to the mainipulative machinations of winged, gown-clad androgynes with pageboy hairdos or to their boss essentially negates the notion that we mere mortals make decisions for ourselves, and yes, that can warp one's view of, and relationship with, society. Because if it's all about angels working their wills on us, why do they only intervene on behalf of certain ones of us? The answer inevitably is that there are those of us who deserve intervention on our behalf and those who don't. I call to the stand Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson on Hurricanes Katrina (2005) and Gloria (1985), respectively. If the court please, I also call to the stand a former colleague, who on the afternoon of September 11, 2001, told several of us that her friend worked at the Pentagon and that she was working right next door to an office in which a woman was killed, but that she had somehow been spared. (How my colleague knew this, I have no idea.) She attributed it to God's looking out for her. I asked her why God wasn't looking out for the poor woman in the next office. She had no answer. And thus is the world divided into the sheep and the goats, the chosen and the infidel, the righteous and the sinful.

Putin on the trade restrictions put on North Korea, and why they will be useless:
"They'd rather eat grass than abandon their [nuclear weapons] programme unless they feel secure. And what can establish security? The restoration of international law. We should promote dialogue among all interested parties."
That's reasonable, but it's rather rich coming from a guy who just invaded part of his neighbour's land!!!

Man, I don't know what's worse the smug way Sessions announced the end of DACA or the reaction from Sarah Huckabee about liberals fundraising off of the decision to end to end DACA being heartless. That image of Sessions smiling to himself as he walked up to the podium is going to be used in every attack ad this fall, and rightly so...I mean that kind of behavior is just so politically stupid as you're just begging to be dragged over the coals for that. And the same soes for Huckabee, I can see it now "Compassion is heartless?" these two moves are just so incompetent that they are begging to be exploited. It's like they just can't help themselves.

just a very sick feeling.
McCain is going to betray America, and vote for this Health Care repeal, even tho it violates EVERY SINGLE THING he said needed to happen before he could support a bill like this.
because his friend is sponsoring it, he's going to vote for it.
just watch.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan said on November 22, 1963," I don’t think there’s any point in being Irish if you don’t know that the world is going to break your heart eventually." Don't know if you're Irish, but keep that latter half of his statement always in mind.

I never thought about the Graham / McCain connection like that.
That IS scary but let's hope McCain stands his ground.
It could happen, but I don't think he'll do it.

Every American insured. For less money. No penalty for pre-existing conditions.
Those were the campaign promises. Why are the Republicans even discussing anything else? Why isn't their base up in arms? All that matters right now seems to be the eradication of Obama's presence from history. It's like those pharaohs who had the name of their predecessor chipped away from all public monuments.
Every American insured. For less money. No penalty for pre-existing conditions.
If you can't provide that, stop wasting time and leave the system as it is, warts and all. (Of course, nothing would beat the kind of single payer system that works so well, for less money, in most western countries... But better a flawed Obamacare than leaving millions of Americans without insurance.)
