Hey guys, just a reminder that this isn't the politics thread. Let's try to keep the posts in this thread on the subject of people who have shuffled off of this mortal coil. Thanks. My sincere apologies. Feel free to delete my original post and any subsequent replies. No worries, Cap. No harm done. It's just that the moderators didn't want your comment to generate a stream of off-topic, politically charged replies.

French cartoonist André Chéret has passed away. It's a bittersweet coincidence to have thought of him while perusing the thread on cavemen and prehistory, as Chéret's long-running series Rahan marked generations or European comics readers by taking them back to the paleolithic.

The Facebook group Comic Book Historians is reporting that Frank McLaughlin has passed. I have not been able to confirm this.

Loved McLaughlin's work, both at Charleton and DC, not to mention the work in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu.

Sad day indeed. McLaughlin's work was all over the comic books I grew up reading during the 70's and 80's.

Montreal Canadiens star Henri 'The Pocket Rocket' Richard has passed, diminutive brother of Maurine 'The Rocket' Richard.

Jazz great McCoy Tyner has passed away at 81. Tyner was a longtime member of John Coltrane's quartet and as such was one of the most influential jazz pianists of last half of the 20th Century. Tyner's work as a band leader was not in any way a let-down from his work with Trane. R. I. P.

Henri Richard, born on a 29 of February like Superman, passed away this week.
Not as well known as his big brother Maurice “Rocket” Richard, Henri was nevertheless an excellent hockey player... and he won the Stanley cup eleven times! He might not have been Ajax, son of Telamon but certainly qualified as an Ajax, son of Oileus.
Richard was part of the legendary Montreal lineup that couldn’t stop winning in the ‘70s (much to the dismay of this ex-Boston Bruins fan) and as such has himself become a legend. Respect.

He was at the tail-end of his career when I first became a hockey fan as a kid in the early 70s but was still an effective player, an important member of the Canadiens who played a large role in their upset Cup win in 1971 and again in 1973, when they weren't underdogs. I remember him very well.
I wish CBC had kept the tapes of those playoffs and packaged them into dvds because I'd love to watch those two Cup runs again from start to finish. I feel even more nostalgia for those two Cups than I do for the 4 straight they won from 1976 to 1979, I suppose because I was younger and they were some of the first I really watched intently - before that I was a more of a casual viewer.

Max von Sydow. A sorrow emoji with tear just can't say enough. Such an incredible actor with so many roles and movies for us to remember him in.

His work with Ingmar Bergman made him one of my favourite actors.
