Not the movie's Star-Lord.

On another side note, do you think that the Star-Lord we currently see in the Marvel Universe is a different one from the Star-Lord who was first introduced in comics? That one apparently lived in a world without super-heroes, and in which NASA had a huge Star Trek-y space station. What's more, the current one has a very different personality fro the original Peter Quill. I wish I could comment on that, but I unfortunately never got around to reading the 'new Guardians' older appearances... save for some of Starlin's work on Drax, Gamora, and Adam Warlock, natch. But the ones that Giffen brought back from obscurity so to speak, I hadn't read any comics about . (I know there was a pretty cool collection called 'GotG Solo Classic', but I only thumbed through it a bit before making a different purchase). Giffin brought Groot and Rocket out of obscurity with Star-Lord mini. And I am an enormous fan of Abnett & Lanning, but without Giffen we wouldn't have GotG the way they are. We might have another team if Abnett & Lanning formed them. And it probably still would have been great. They're both like the literary sons of Starlin. There's no doubt they'd make it good. I also wish Green would have followed over to the ongoing GotG. His art was so perfect in that, and his Groot was the best I've visually seen. What Star Lord was and what they did with him now, is much like Thomas' Warlock and Starlin's. Both are great to read (and thank god I read a lot of this years ago with price gouging now) but they are very, very different characters with the same name. I try to think of them like GL. Same title, completely different people.

I guess this worlds Starlord is the one from the movies. Other versions need not apply. I believe this is right. Deciding that I don't have to reconcile the current version with the old one (because he's from Earth 676253 or some such) also spares me a lot of continuity headaches!

Yes, I think they might as well be different characters.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marvel is up to that many Earths at this point RR.

Current Star-Lord only has the name and nothing else in common with the original concept in the black and white magazines. The closest version to the original Star-Lord was most recently used in the Guardians 3000 series by Dan Abnett. He placed Star-Lord in the original costume with his elemental gun and "Ship" within that series story line in the future. Whether that was an alternate future or what not was never disclosed and they never showed Star-lord without his helmet or refer to him as anything other than being Star-Lord. Which worked for me since it ignored all of the garbage and baggage that haunts the origin from the black and white magazines.

It is an interesting if limited read. The series itself suffers from being cut short and an art style that really didn't suit it. Good concepts in a time travel/alternate universe confusing sort of way. Could have been really fun and more entertaining. The best parts sadly being the Alex Ross covers which suited the series visually better than any of the interior artwork.

Whoever came up with the idea that Black Bolt's "real" name was Blackagar Boltagon should have been given a good talking to. "Look, buddy: this is a real stupid idea ... Now get back to work and don't do it again!"
It's a good thing the Black Panther was already named T'Challa or they probably would have tried to tell us his real name was Blackius Pantherus.

I always thought that the name was sucky.

Didn't Stan Lee invent the name?

Maybe it was voted on by the kids who came up with Boaty McBoatface.

I'm pretty sure the real names didn't come until much, much later. They did it with all the Inhumans (or at least the Royal Family), but Black Bolt's was by far the worst.
