Glad you had a great trip. It was fun to follow it on Facebook. You hit a lot of places that are on my music bucket list.

Great description, Confessor. You did a lot during that journey. Which is good.
I went on holiday with some friends once - and one guy just wanted to drink in the same pub all day, every day. We left him to it. The rest of us wanted to check out some culture.
Which is what you did. A wide variety of experiences, it seems. Good stuff!

Glad that you had a great trip Confessor ... that Nashville section is great and the Memphis as well; those two cities are my personal favorites and I have dear friends that lived there. I enjoyed your recap and thanks for sharing it.

I was going to ask about your trip, thanks for answering without my asking, sounds epic! Our final stop was Athens, Georgia. I'm a huge R.E.M. Fan, and Athens is the band's home town, so I spent a day visiting significant sites associated with the band. This included hanging around outside singer Michael Stipe's house, taking pictures, like some weirdo stalker. I tell you, I was probably only minutes away from having a restraining order issued against me! Yikes! My BF's second CD has photos taken busking in Athens on the covers. I've always wanted to go see that kudzu (see Murmur LP cover) but so far haven't been.

I've always wanted to go see that kudzu (see Murmur LP cover) but so far haven't been. I saw plenty of Kudzu while in Alabama and Georgia. Although, I actually first encountered it on some land just behind Dockery Farms in the Mississippi Delta. Weird as it sounds, seeing Kudzu was definitely on my list of things to do while in the South. Speaking of Murmur, I made a visit to the old railway trestle pictured on the back cover of the album while I was visiting R.E.M.-centric sites in and around Athens. I also scored a nice haul of vinyl from Wuxtry Records in Athens, which is where guitarist Peter Buck and singer Michael Stipe first met (Buck worked there and Stipe was a customer). I plan to post a photo of my record haul in the vinyl thread in the coming days.

Safe travels friend and enjoy you're trip i forget the name of that cool mall area in japan with all the Manga and Anime . you into any of that at all ? If you are talking about the Ahkihabarra district, then yes, we did an evening there - checking out all the Manga and DVD, and video Game stores. (we also spent an evening/daytime at Sibuya (famous crossing & shopping), Shinjuku (Godzilla Statue & Red Light district, & Robot Restaurant), Harakuju (fashion) & Dotonbori (for insane shopping, and the oval ferris wheel).
had a great time!
my condolences on the passing of your Dad. I hope you're doing OK and getting thru this rough time?
Hi Bert , yep that was the area i meant did you purchase anything cool while there in Japan ? And thank you , me and my mom are doing the best we can it's very hard they were married 59 years ! I miss him very much , The house seems lonely/Weird with him gone some nights seem to drag on ugh but i heard all this will get easier in time .

bags and bags of godzilla stuff. . including too much spent at the claw machines in Shinjuku to get some awesome Godzilla boxed toys (I think $17 for one, and maybe ~$33 for the other). . . but I fell ok about it, as *IF* were able to get in the states? easily would sell for $55 each or more.. so still got a deal.
My parents were married 53 years, when my Mom passed in Jan of 2017. . I'm still not dealing with it great and often dream about her. Tho since I live in a different city, and not in the same house, it's a bit easier I suspect (although I see her picture on the bedstand the moment I open my eyes every morning).
sending lots of love and good vibes.. it really DOES get easier, but it takes time.

Sorry, but I get it. When I saw the accompanying picture, I wasn't sure, because I assumed from the headline that the faces were drawn in white. But then I read the story and saw that the faces were indeed drawn in white chalk, and I got it. As for B, B and B removing them, well, that's just business.

Maybe people could travel to some place your dad liked or had wanted to visit? Sort of a getting out of and away from the present surroundings could help? Plus he'd be sort of present in memory so no guilty feelings possible.
