Gonna have to take a break from this forum, guys. After many long years, my laptop has finally "died" (it seemed on its last legs months ago). Can't afford a new one right now, maybe in a few weeks' time. January's energy bills were high due to the cold. And with the best will in the world, posting on forums via mobile phones takes an age. I will try to participate in the cover threads, but cut/paste and opening up new tabs on a phone can be like threading the eye of a needle. So I'll be a lurker/reader for a little while. Have fun! (And to illustrate my point, it's taken me twice as long to post this). Drat! Do come back as soon as you can, taxidriver1980! You’ll be missed!

Sorry to hear this taxidriver1980 !
I understand. My PC, which has held up amazingly well for *** knocks on wood *** 12 years ! now has been giving blue screen lately, so I'll probably have to replace it this year some time.
Good luck my friend. Your presence will be missed.

Getting ready to see Joel Hodgson, Tom Servo, Crow and Gypsy on the MST3K Live tour riffing on Circus of Horrors. Super excited. Allegedly Joel’s last tour. Now to hit a Rifftrax tour. www.morrisoncenter.com/events/detail/mst3k

I liked the first few seasons of MST3000. Lost contact with it over the years and the last time I watched it, it had lost its magic for me.

Well, the neurologist did a nerve conduction test on my legs and concluded that whatever is causing the pain in my legs is NOT peripheral neuropathy. The good news: there is no damage to my sensory nerves. The bad news: he couldn't say what the problem is. He suggested it may be restless leg syndrome that, because what muscles there are in my lower legs have atrophied over the six+ decades of my existence, the nerves are reacting the way they are. So it's back to the medical drawing board. My next appointment isn't until the 27th, so i'll just have to tough it out til then. Sigh.
On the plus side, I'm getting a new apartment for my birthday.
Cei-U! I summon the half-full glass!
EDIT: That was supposed to be the happy emoji, not the sad one. Fixed now.

Sorry about your diagnosis, Kurt, but at least it's great news that is half-filling that glass.

Cei-U! I summon the half-full glass! I'm half happy to hear that. Here's hoping things improve in your new flat! Without playing Dr. Welby, I feel I should ask: did your doctor consider any medication you might be taking? I ask because my mother, before she passed away, suffered terribly from her feet and leg (as if she walked on needles and pins). She assumed it was a problem related to her cancer, but it turned out to be her cholesterol and/or high blood pressure medication -I forget which. Once her prescriptions were adjusted (dropping quite a few drugs), the pain disappeared in a few days.

Great news that it is NOT peripheral neuropathy Cei-U!, but sadly that leaves other causes to be explored. Not to cause scares for you and your family, but like RR said; drugs can cause issues, reduced or excessive blood flow can cause issues, pinched nerves (due from body positioning when awake/asleep/sit and so forth) can cause issues, low/deficient iron levels, lack of muscular oxygenation, anxiety/panic attack can cause body tingles, to be overweight causing pinching in a nerve branch in the back or thighs, temperature changes affecting the body, toxicity within the body (can be absorbed through the skin or swallowing,), RSI: Repetitive Strain Injury caused from repetitive activity over extended periods of time without enough rest, vitamin deficiencies, Kidney issues/failure, Lupus, Arthritis, arterial disease where blood vessels are too narrow/restricted (a partial cause of my diabetic girlfriend's friend death combined with a weak heart 20 years ago) from calcium build up and blockage. These are just off the top of my head and not meant to add anxiety or worry, but suggestions for your physician's looking into. With my girlfriend's death, they simply wanted to blame the cause of death from her diabetes issues alone. We pushed for an extensive autopsy as her 11 year old daughter runs the same risks as her mother, and they found after but NOT diagnosed when alive that she had severe arterial blockage in several arteries to and from her heart. She would complain of dizziness and tingling when she bent over too far but her regular physician said that was "normal" for diabetics and she was on multiple medications for pain/infection/osteo-porosis and blood thinners. All of these combined for "masking/hiding" symptoms which should have been investigated further. Sadly physician's and insurance costs/etc cause more harm when looking for "simple" answers and fixes. Don't let your doctor(s) simplify your issues, be vocal and encourage them looking at any/all possibilities! It is in YOUR best interest and health, so don't give up and just "Accept" having to "live" with the symptoms. They are signs that SOMETHING is wrong and need to be addressed with further tests.

Good suggestions all, that mirror my own research online (the Mayo Clinic's website is very helpful). Blood tests came back negative for diabetes, lupus, and various autommune diseases so I'm home free there. It isn't likely to be drug-related because my only prescription is an as-needed muscle relaxer for my back. The most likely culprit is either a pinched nerve in my right hip or repetitive stress from all the time I spend bent over my keyboard. Now that we've eliminated the most worrisome causes, we can focus on those things. I remain hopeful there's a solution that won't require a drastic change in my lifestyle.
Cei-U! I summon the crossed fingers!

Got a little positive news about my mom today. She and my sister met with a geriatrician, and this doctor gave my mom a battery of cognitive tests. At the completion of these tests and coupled with the quick onset of the issues, she said she doesn't believe that my mom has Alzheimer's or dementia, but rather believes that my mom had a stroke of some magnitude.
Mom goes for an MRI next Tuesday and we should get some more definitive answers from that, but at least initially, this might be the best possible news we could have hoped for. No guarantee she'll recover what has been lost, but barring another event, it won't be the inevitable and inexorable decline that Alzheimer's or dementia would bring.
