I'm not much help on Hank Sr., my Dad has this big MGM multi record LP collection that is like his greatest item in his accumulation and it came out in the early '60s. I have a Tascam CD-Pro burner set up and made a set of CDs from that and it's still what I listen to, but I supplemented this with the CDs of The Garden Spot and Health & Wellness radio programs. Watch out for fake stereo reworkings of Hank Williams though. Well, this has been a great trip Slam_Bradley and ending with a Canadian artist on top too! Gene Clark did a nice job on that Lightfoot song in the '80s (though it does have that dated '80s production a little). Photograph was a major song for me after I lost a loved one. It was co-written with George Harrison. Ringo is a great all around entertainer, people rave about his live shows. Also one of the best drummers of all, anyone who listened to Rain knew that (sorry Pete Best, you honestly weren't close to best). My year in review... well, I remember I listed to a lot of 'British Folk' as they call it, which is stuff from the late '60s and '70s... Nick Drake, Sandy Denny, Fairport Convention... but also lesser-knowns like Duncan Browne and Rosemary Hardman. I also got into some jazz and of course blues, no particular artists (unless maybe Barbara Lynn and Louis Jordan) but more by periods... late '20s to mid '60s. Then I went through a spell of immersion in Badfinger/The Iveys/Pete Ham demos, then a bit of Slade, and when 'Gene Clark Sings For You' was in my hands after a long wait I got into that and reread some parts of books pertaining to it's recording. Lastly I re-read books on Rubber Soul and Revolver by The Beatles and played Help to Magical Mystery Tour a bunch, good for the winter blahs! I also transferred some vinyl to CD for a friend, this year it was a lot of records from Zimbabwe and South Africa as well as a couple more of his live tapes (Grateful Dead, Kinks, Country Joe, Vancouver d.i.y./punk).

Aww...thanks. I didn't know if anyone would be interested. But I had fun reviewing the singles that had heavy play for me last year. I'm about to start another music project. It's easier for me to deal with music while I'm working than funnybooks. So that may be why I've been here more about music than comics. I'm a fairly big blues fan...just seems that it gets put by the wayside for other things. And I tend to listen broader than deep...so not really any single tracks that hit my list.

Most listened to songs of 2018 #1 "If You Could Read My Mind" - Gordon LightfootSo...yeah...not really what one would expect. Seriously the craftsmanship of the lyrics on this song just boggle my mind. This is as well crafted lyrically as any song I can think of. "If I could read your mind, love, What a tale your thoughts could tell. Just like a paperback novel, The kind the drugstores sell. Then you reached the part where the heartaches come, The hero would be me. But heroes often fail" Yeah. That last line kills me. Heroes aren't supposed to fail. But they do. Lotta shit going on the last couple of years. This was a BIG surprise. No matter how bad things have gone for you, though, Slam, I can't see you not being heroic, especially as a lawyer. Keep doin' what you do, brother.

Have had a lot of problems at home for a couple of years, many self-inflicted. I'm not really one to talk about that stuff. But it certainly showed up at the top of the charts.

Not to interrupt Slam's thread - which I want to comment on in detail later, right now I'm limiting myself to the songs or artists I already know - but quick question: does anyone have a recommendation for a comprehensive Hank Williams collection, whether a box set or "deluxe edition" multi-disc cd? I know you can find all the hits on youtube or wherever, but I'm interested in something that goes beyond that (if such a thing exists). It's definitely not my thread. It used to be Ish's. As far as Hank Williams...the gold standard has always been 40 Greatest Hits which was put out by Mercury in '78. But I'm guessing you want something more comprehensive than that. Mercury put out a boxed set in 1998 called The Complete Hank Williams. That's probably what you're looking for, if you can find it and want to drop the coin for it. Though I did just check and it is on Spotify. Thanks for the info. The 10-disc box set is tempting but probably a little out of my league at the moment. But today I happened to come across a cd of demos called Alone & Forsaken, so for now I might just make do with that plus the 40 Greatest Hits package if I see it around.
Yeah, I miss Ish's presence on the Classic boards in general and in this thread in particular. Him and Dan Bailey are the two guys whose departure has left the biggest empty spaces here, for me.

Badfinger/The Iveys/Pete Ham demos: what are the titles of those? I have a Pete Ham one, forget the name of it now. Definitely interested in any Badfinger demos I could find.

Yeah, I wish they'd come back too. Both of them left the forum of their own accord though. Dan got annoyed with someone and self-deleted his account, but I think he was losing interest in the place anyway. While Ish just never came back after having been disciplined by the moderators. It's a shame though because both would be very welcome back. I'm friends with Dan on Facebook and I periodically suggest that he should come back. He normally says he agrees that yes, he should, but so far, he hasn't.

I emailed Ish for a bit after he left. I'd be very surprised if he'd come back.

There's plenty of non-comics stuff here where his voice would be so refreshing. Anyone know the baseball site where he's involved?

I emailed Ish for a bit after he left. I'd be very surprised if he'd come back. And yet, he still regularly visits the forum. He was last online just 4 days ago. So, he's obviously still interested in the community and what's going on here. It's a real shame that he doesn't feel like he wants to participate though. I hope that he'll one day change his mind.
