I think most of us know how confusing Hawkman's origin is, but doing some reading on the character's powers from Who's Who to DC Adventures (an RPG source) to the current DC Comics Database wiki, it seems like there is little agreement on exactly what powers Hawkman has and what's granted him by his Nth metal wing harness. From what I can tell, this is just accounting for Earth-1 Hawkman.
For instance, some resources say that Thanagarian's can communicate with birds, have longer lifespans, resistances to injury, etc, but others seem to say that all of this is given to him by the harness or the "absorbascon"and he's basically Batman level without all the fancy alien tech. Maybe its simply that the slight differences between Earth-1 and Earth-2 Hawkman muddied the waters when it came to defining his powers? It's probably just my lack of Hawkman knowledge, but I found all this interesting (I do realize that Hawkman is now basically an amalgam of Earth-1 and 2, but like I said, this seemed to be a problem in Pre-Crisis).
