Jay Garrick: The Flash #1. This series follows up on the recent Stargirl series. With flashbacks to 1963 and jumping forward to today we see how Jay and Joan's daughter being missing affects them. It is a refreshing issue as Adams captures the life of an older couple struggling with the re-appearance of their daughter. And at my stage in life this is a welcome story showing an older couple. Finally comics are not only showing married couples but couples with children and now even couples in old age!

I also got Nightwing and it was ok. I'm not into this "pirate" story. Titans was good. I really like the mix of characters and the art is beautiful. World's Finest takes us back to Earth 22 where Kingdom Come takes place. I'm interested to see where this arc takes us. Moon Knight This issue feels like this arc is dragging since we already know the ending in 3 issues. It was still decent just a lot of fighting.

Superman #850. Sets up the return of Brainiac. Also lots of interesting supporting characters will be showing up. I thought Perry White's new role feels right. Can't wait as this story unfolds.

Daredevil I really like this new direction for Matt as a priest. The art was incredible and there is acknowledgement of past stories. Also I am trying to get a copy of Boris Karloff's Gold Key Mysteries as Gold Key Comics returns!

Jay Garrick: The Flash #1. I read this before I went to bed last night. It’s really good! I did not read the recent Stargirl series so I’ve never seen Boom before. She’s great! I actually liked the Stargirl series more than Justice Society. On paper it seemed stupid (why do we need more time displaced heroes) but overall the story was good since it leads to scenarios like this series. |

I was really hoping Godzilla and King Kong VS the Justice League would be a fun popcorn kind of read...but the plot structure was just really horrible. We start out with Clark and Lois on a date and it looks like Clark is going to propose when suddenly Godzilla appears and Superman is called into action. Okay, not a bad start; it sets things up and jumps into the action nicely...but then without any visual or notional cue it jumps to earlier in the day and we learn that Superman is working double time because he wants to take a vacation, we then get some scenes with the Legion of Doom and then more scenes of Clark's friends talking about him planning on popping the question...which is all well and fine but there's no tension because we already know that Clark's big moment gets interrupted.
If it was just played straight, with the opening being Flash and GL watching Superman zoom around the world trying to tie up loose ends before proposing, the ensuing scenes with the Legion of Doom and the Monsterverse creatures interspersed with the well wishes of the Justice League would have built up tension nicely, but by starting at the end it just feels like filler. I've honestly never seen such a simple editorial mistake tank a book like this.

World's Finest had an interesting set up, looks like David is sort of being set up as Magog or Gog which is an interesting change. We'll have to see how it plays out. |

Yeah, Superman continues to be fantastic, I loved the revelation of the Luthor family and the inclusion of Brainiac is interesting. I wonder why #8 isn't coming out until 2024? |

The pirate story is definitely odd, but now that the set up is out of the way it should pick up. |

I liked, but didn't love the Wes Dodds book (though I loved the setting). I had no idea there was even a Stargirl thing, so I came in to this cold. I liked it for a lot of the same reasons you did. But I'd like it even more if it was just set in 1963. I don't know what rationale they are using for Joan Garrick being alive, much less vital when she should be at least 100 years old. I can funnybook science my way around Jay, but not Joan. Overall, I think it was pretty okay. |

My memory isn't what it used to be but somewhere it was printed that the JSA and their families were exposed to chronal energy at a reunion back in the 50s that caused them all to age more slowly. As you said comic book "science". |
