Man some great villains in this thread, some of which I have never seen! Icicle looks fantastic!
Magus
Again with the purple. I don't know why but I like evil mirror versions of characters. Magus just works for me. The cool skull belt and of course, the best fro to reflect the times. Name me another supervillain this cool with an afro!

^I also enjoy the Vulture and love the wings but something about him as a character just always lets me down. Perhaps it is the fact he is an old man in a costume that always lets him down. Visually though, a very good look.

^My theory has been that it is Betty's father (I think he has green eyes plus his absence has me wondering). Now, the fact they showed Archie flashing back to when he locked eyes with the killer and the fact that Betty kept the hood has me wondering if they are going to pass this off as everything being ok, while they continue to look for the real killer.
Or, if the show really wants to they will just leave it, which to me would be a mistake and a lazy way out if they did not have some sort of actual ending for this whole saga.

Invaders #18The CoverIn my opinion, this cover is one of the best so far. A great action scene drawn by, of course, Gil Kane. I love the fact that a lot is happening yet there is detail in all of it. Cap also looks very menacing thanks to the lack of pupils in his eyes. We also see the Destroyer, who looks to be a very interesting character. The yellow backdrop pops and makes this a great cover. The StoryWe start with a recap of Warrior Woman tossing Cap off the wall of the fortress. We seem his fall stopped by an unknown costumed hero, obviously the Destroyer. Cap lands on him, knocking them both out. We then jump back to Hitler celebrating his defeat of the Invaders. He demands some soldiers go to retrieve Caps body and shield for further study. Then, he shares his thoughts about having two supreme beings in Master Man and Warrior Woman working for him. He suggests that the two will marry and be the start of his supreme race. Master Man loves the idea but Warrior Woman does not. She says she must think on this and leaves, after which we see Master Man angry at being rejected. Well, these poor soldiers head out and they find Cap…alive! He and the Destroyer make quick work of the Nazi guards. Then, Destroyer leads Cap into a secret cave where he then reveals more about his origin. Apparently, it was thought that Destroyer was American when in fact he is English. He was an American correspondent who was in prison with a scientist who had possession of a super soldier formula. He gave it to Destroyer who gained his powers and then fought against the Nazis. Cap mentions the FBI thinking his alter ego was Keen Marlow and that is when Destroyer reveals his face to Cap (but not the reader). Switch scenes and we see the Invaders once again in captivity. Torch ponders what has happened to Spitfire and her father (as well as little old Dyna-Mite). Well wonder no more shall we as we see them parachuting into Germany. They are picked up by an old German friend of Lord Falsworth. Dyna-Mite expresses his frustration as they drive off about how he cannot remember his past, even though Falsworth appears to know something as he continues to call the pint sized hero by his name, Roger. We then return to Cap and Destroyer, who have infiltrated the fortress. They overhear Warrior Woman commanding some soldiers to execute Biljo as he is no longer needed. They take him away but Cap and Destroyer jump in to save him. Then, the duo confronts a scientist about the whereabouts of Hitler and his captured team members. The scientist tells them that Hitler plans to publicly execute his friends. This prompts Cap to exclaim he will murder the German leader if anything should happen to the Invaders. OpinionsThis is shaping up to be the best story arc so far. The Destroyer is a nice Golden Age bring back and the fact that we must wait to learn who he is adds a nice bit of suspense. Also, Dyna-Mite’s lack of memory of his own history has me intrigued. We also got to see Spitfire and her father back in action, and there is the whole question of what they have been doing the past couple issues. They appear to be trying to help Dyna-Mite remember his past, whatever importance that may have will hopefully be revealed. Finally, the fact that Warrior Woman has some doubts about marrying Master Man and starting the all perfect superhuman race suggests she may play a future role in helping the Invaders (maybe not, but she does seem to struggle with the idea of blindly serving Adolf and being a wife to Master Man). Quote of the Issue“Then, for the first time in his life, Captain America will commit cold-blooded murder! THIS I SWEAR!- Cap's declaration at the end of the issue Has he ever killed? Methinks he may have back in the Golden Age...perhaps someone else knows for sure.

Mr. FearI debated this spot intensely between Red Skull, Mr. Fear and Taskmaster. Red Skull is no doubt iconic, but I feel his overall costume lacks outside of his face. Taskmaster also has a great skull-faced look and I do love the orange and blue colour sceheme but something is just missing. So Mr. Fear takes it for me visually. This DD cover in particular is the look I love...he just looks so dark and creepy and I like it. I also feel this is a character that deserves some more exposure and exploration in terms of his character. Perhaps there is too much of a similarity to Scarecrow over at DC (and surely there is) which may make it harder to do something with him that hasn't already been done over at DC with Scarecrow. At any rate, I love the skull face and purple costume. Nuff said!

HelaThe only female on my list. She has been seen already on some others and for me, it is the green and also that wicked headgear. Obviously Kirby's design reigns supreme. I also like this later one by Buscema as it is essentially the same look. Some later looks remove the black and green squiggles from the body suit which to me, ruins it completely.

I love Swarm! He often gets listed as a lame duck villain but I agree, there is something eerie and great about that design. I loved him in Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man...was that his first appearance ??

Remember Saturday morning cartoons? Is that still even a thing? It is where I first got into superheroes by way of the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, along with other classics like Scooby Doo, Animaniacs, Looney Tunes, etc. I know there are syndicated channels devoted to these shows and you can stream whatever whenever you want...but unless I am wrong because I am not a father, there is no longer the joy of waking up Saturday morning, rushing downstairs at 7am and watching 2 solid hours of great cartoons with your brother and dad!

Actually, I am wondering if my top selection and Juggernaut have ever battled...if so, when I do reveal my number one choice, I would love to hear if they have because that would be an issue I would want to own.

10. JuggernautIs there any better armoured villain costume out there? Well my front runner might have one (hint hint) but him aside, I don't think so. I also really just like his helmet for some reason. It is just a great look and once again, one that needs no changing because of how strong it is. In the 90's, some variations overdid the muscles but for my money, any cover with the Juggernaut has me wanting it because he is just a cool lookin' villain!

The ProwlerI first encountered this short-lived villain in the daily Spider-Man newspaper strip. Just loved the look of the mask, the clawed gauntlets, whatever that design on his chest is supposed to represent... a character I really enjoyed drawing as a kid. And there's that purple (sometimes) and green again. I too love the purple and green combo...I feel it could be even more purple on this cover though and the green on this design just lacks the pop. It seems to me that some of the interior work looked better at times on the Prowler. Did he ever get a decent solo series or was he ever used in a way that was interesting? I feel like that costume design is great and has a lot of similarities to looks that were hot in the 90's, particularly a character like Spawn.

11. MysterioA guy with a fishbowl for a head. In all seriousness, I love this costume. Perhaps it has something to do with the dark green and purple, two colours that just work perfectly together. Also, the eyes on the clasps of the cape give it that eeriness. Ditko drew him best IMO but Romita also did a nice job. Thankfully, no one (to my knowledge) has really altered the design and to me that speaks to just how strong it is.
