Not a big fan of Alex Ross' design of when Bucky took over as Captain America during the Death of Captain America That terrible metallic armor and the black pants.....gross. Yeah, I never was really sure what the black part was... Rubber?

The masked Dr. Strange.... </div>First time I see this and I like it ! Reminds me a bit of Black Panther maybe? Speaking of, did BP ever got another costume? There should be a thread for classic characters that NEVER changed there costume...

I know everybody here is mostly a superhero fan, but I just read Black Hole by Charles Burns, and it was FANTASTIC! This might have been one of the best comics I've ever read. Great Story (Teenagers in 1970' Seattle live with the aftermath of a sexually transmitted disease which causes grotesque mutations), amazing art and GREAT character development, I highly recommend this to everyone. Now I have to find more Charles Burns\ Black Hole was chosen for the CCF Long Halloween by one of our esteeme dmembers, you can see the discussion here-M Wow! What a coincidence! I generally read most of the threads on the forum, but I just had a baby girl 16 days ago, so I have way less time for myself! Glad somebody liked it too! Now I wanna read Xssed Out and everything else CB wrote/draw

with ass-less chaps and a leather coat/cap. Chaps are by definition assless. Otherwise they are trousers. You learn something new everyday!!!

I just read Green Arrow Volume 1, issue 1-8. Actually you read Green Arrow, Vol. 2. Vol. 1 is the 4-issue mini-series by Barr and Von Eeden. Cei-U! I summon the pedantry! Ok, Thanks Cei-U! That's what I thought at first, but when you read the editor's note in the comics, they say it's GA first volume.

So my first foray into the classic comics reading thread. Welcome welcome! WOW. Was this the Mike Grell volume? Yes it was! Issue #5 or 7, not sure... I don't think I've ever read anything from Mike Grell before (although as I said before, I'm not good with creators, so I might have read some of his work before) and I like the series so far, I just thought it was kind of weird.... EDIT : My wife just read my comment and told me it's "full" of mistakes, so sorry about that! I'm a french Canadian and she's anglophone.... I'll get better with time!

So my first foray into the classic comics reading thread.
I don't know a lot about creators, so I might need your help.
I just read Green Arrow Volume 1, issue 1-8. I thought it was pretty good, although I started having issue with the art after issue 4... (Even if it's the same artist, from what I got...(except for issue 8). I love that all the stories are 2-parters, instead of 6-parters now...
I also had some issue with the depiction of gay people... I know that it was in 1988, but when GA wanted to draw the thugs attention to him, he went for a walk "Disguised" as a gay, with ass-less chaps and a leather coat/cap. Really? Then 2 issues later, a guy wrote a letter saying he was really happy about how the gay were not stereotype in this issue.
Anyway, I was pretty happy to read those issue and will try to find more...

It's been about 7 years since I have been able to see anything. It's a real bummer. Dinosaur Jr (3x including my aforementioned most recent concert) Fugazi 2x Junior Brown 6x Tito and Tarantula 4x White Stripes Monkees/Weird Al- my first "real" concert! Beastie Boys- the only concert I have been to where I had an assigned seat Alternative Nation tour Superchunk 4x Green Day 3x Bad Religion Shudder To Think Jawbreaker 2x Shonen Knife fIREHOSE Mike Watt Sleater Kinney 2x Rocket from The Crypt Weston GWAR Anthrax Smog Archers of Loaf Modest Mouse 2x Murder City Devils 2x Zeke Man or Astroman Royal Crown Revue Pavement Buffalo Tom Bettie Serveert And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead 4x Tsunami Ida Mineral Pansy Division Tilt Girls Against Boys 3x Jawbox Samiam The Smugglers The Donnas Queens of the Stone Age 2x Lois When I was a kid I went to the Houston Rodeo and saw a lot of early 80s country artists- Oak Ridge Boys, ALabama, Conway Twitty, etc. Saw Rocket from the Crypt a month or so ago, in a big festival in Québec. I LOOOOVE their music, so I was pretty excited to see them. But then the singer acted like an asshole all the time, laughing at the mostly French Canadian crowd, I guess thinking people didn't understand English? At first me and my friends thought he was joking, but he didn't stop for 40 minutes... Whats an asshat!

Really interesting to read roquefort, thank you! Although I would consider myself a "connaisseur" of european comics, I've actually never read any Hugo Pratt. I need to remedy to that!
Quick question, might be a weird one : Since Pratt is Italian, was his work first published in Italian or did he speak French?

I've been on a Wolverine kick this week, a character I don't know that much. Basically, I read 4 TPB from the second volume and I thought that most of them were pretty good, especially "Enemy of the State" and "Origin and Ending". (I read 2 more that I can't remember the name...) But the big surprise came when I read Wolverine: Origin TPB. I thought this was an AMAZING story. It tells the origin of Wolverine in 6 issues. It really is fantastic! The art is great (although sometime it felt like Logan looked young, then next page older) and the story is top notch! Really happy I read it. I bought a huge lot of TPB last december and the Wolverine ones were in the "To Sell to get your money back" Pile.

Picked up a mini-series I didn't even know existed. Thanos (2003). I got 2-12 for a dollar each, just need to find #1 now! It actually was an ongoing. Starlin fell out with Marvel during the first six issues, then Keith Giffen came in and laid the groundwork for Annihilation. It only made it 'til issue 12, but from there, we'd get the Drax the Destroyer mini and Annihilation itself.
Also, if you look closely, there's an Ultraverse cameo. The first, I think, since Marvel shut it down.
Thanks for the info! Yeah, I just saw that these issues are quite expensive on mycomicshop.com. Will need to track down #1 before I read them!
