Strongly disagree about Blueberry art, but maybe there's a bit of "emotional love" in my appreciation of it. Might be my favourite series ever. Emotional investment aside, do you think Giraud had beauty as a goal when drawing that series? I don't know if he had beauty as a goal, but he probably had details and realism. It is beautiful in my opinion

I totally understand what you mean. If you'd like more realistic Moebius, you should check the classic Blueberry. Jean Giraud wasn't Moebius. Of course Blueberry had a story, but the drawing wasn't nearly as beautiful. Strongly disagree about Blueberry art, but maybe there's a bit of "emotional love" in my appreciation of it. Might be my favourite series ever.

No doubt, but I also think Lee did a better job than what he used to. By this time, he had long relinquished writing chores at Marvel, and he just chose to participate in this project because he saw it for what it was: a unique opportunity. He gave it everything he had.
Edit: tried to resist, but I can't help being provocative. The opposite could also be said. I've read (or tried to) most of Moebius' work, and I always came away with the impression he had been smoking, while imagining what he was going to draw. At least, here, there's a story, even if not a great one.

Written by Stan Lee? For sure hehe well it's mostly because Moebius is the artist : )

Bought on the 16th, received on the 14th via UPS. English eBid seller I had to contact privately, as they had left the platform: That Silver Surfer might be the greatest Marvel comic of all time.

The best deal I got on a book in the last couple years was when I found this old, rare item at a store in Switzerland. It was way too much for me without waiting months to save up for it... but then, another fan in Canada pointed me at a seller in France who had it for HALF what the other store was asking. It was STILL pricey-- around $70.00-- but I was able to go for it immediately. (Not many times I can say I saved $70.00 on a deal.)
I spent the next couple months cleaning it up, coloring it, and translating it into English...
I'm not sure I understand what this is???

I've been buying a lot more comics than usual recently, all on eBay/Kijiji as all the shops are closed around here. I think I'm bored and looking for comics on eBay is something to do... I don't post most of the comics I buy but I got a few fun ones in the last two weeks from an eBay seller who post GREAT new comics every week.
Now that is a great bunch of odds & ends! Nice score!
Most of them were not cheap though. I'm ok with paying more for comics I'm really exited to get. I had never seen that Jughead cover before and I loved it the minute I saw it. I paid 31$ though.... That "Crime must pay the Penalty" is the golden age comic in the best condition I own. It's really nice!

Almost exactly a year ago, Amor y Cohetes was the topic of discussion on this very thread, as I was complaining that it was OUP and thus impossible to find at at anything resembling a reasonable price. Apparently, though, Fantagraphics reissued it earlier this year, so new copies started to appear again at all of the main bookseller sites. Got mine from Book Depository and even had a 10% discount coupon to boot! It was the only one that I was missing and ordered it from Fantagraphics last fall. They reprinted it late summer I think. Finally!

Is there something special about red dress covers or it's just something you enjoy and collect? Just something I enjoy and collect. I explain it a little more in this thread: Devil With a Red Dress On. It's really just a whim inspired by some covers I saw and really liked and then started noticing how many red dress covers there were. -M Got it! Just checked your thread and you are right, that Will Eisner cover is beautiful!

I mentioned in another thread I went to an antique mall just outside of town today and picked up some comics. Almost everything was in the $1 to $3 range, but a couple were $4 and one (a red dress cover) was $9. So I added three red dress covers to the collection, one was a double dip as it was a Kubert cover Our Army at War issue... Is there something special about red dress covers or it's just something you enjoy and collect?
