So... care to let us know about this Earth? It's probably similar to the theoretical "Earth-E" or as i like to think of it... Earth-Super-Friends...

Wally's high school graduation, shown in this story, probably occurs in May or June.

Just got done creating an entry at Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe and headed over here. Two of my favorite parts of the hobby, learning about the comics and sharing that info. It was quite a few years into collecting that i got a chance to share, what with the Internet and all, i created a free site on Geocities (remember that, folks?) focusing on the Golden Age of DC, i got to put online a lot of what i learned and what i guessed (some right, some wrong) and met a few fellow fans along the way. Then some work on Grand Comic Book Database, and meeting up with Tenzil Kim on his new site and folded mine into it. And the people i've come in contact with doing it!! What's your thoughts, experiences, pans, praises for all that stuff out there?

About Brain Wave... After looking at his arsenals and headquarters, i think Henry King stole from his fellow criminals...
The ONLY thing he might have invented is the machinery that he uses on the JSA in both All-Star Squadron and later in All-Star Comics #30.
His lighthouse headquarters in A-SC #15 may be the same lighthouse from Dr. Doome...
And how did he get the records and his Shrinking ray machine? Well, he obviously had a secret entrance to the Perisphere, and stole both from the JSA meeting rooms there (the shrinking machine was originally built by Mekanique) and the Spider-Web gun... well, Tarantula probably had one laying around and he picked that up also, the little sneak!
The equipment he uses in A-SC #58-59 was probably Degaton's, and his promise to build him a new body was just a lie on his part to get him to go along with him.
The things he uses in Showcase #97-99 are surprisingly similar to the equipment used by the trio of Shade, Thinker and Fiddler to heist Keystone City, and still set up to do the same!!

Really liked this when it first came out... on one of my first trips to an actual comic book shop! Another thing i liked about this series is that it was told in "real time" for the first few issues... one month passes between stories... would have been cool to see this a few years down the road as he moved thru WWII.

I've read quite a few of the Golden Age DC text pieces. The ones from the All-American group were generally better than those in DC mags. Hop Harrigan (AA's pilot hero) was featured in many of them. One such Hop Harrigan story in All-Star #8 is actually the second time Superman and Batman appeared together in the same story. (The first being All-Star #7.) I think Evelyn Gaines wrote the majority of the AA stories or at least a fairly good number of them. I've tried reading some from other eras too. The late 1950s stories are nearly unreadable in quality. Gaines was probably the only person other than Blummer to write Hop Harrigan in the GA. Besides the JSA/Hop team-up in All-Star Comics #8, we also get a Hop/Flash team-up and a Hop/GL team-up. Johnny Thunder was also in a couple of these two pagers.

According to my mother, my folks started buying me comics because at age 3, my reading had far outpaced the little Golden Books and TV Guide, so they started picking up Casper and the lot, but i was basically uninterested...
My Dad was a big Western fan, and probably picked up Tomahawk for me, so one of my earliest memories is getting and reading and memorizing Tomahawk #115, with the great flaming T-Hawk!
Where we got them was part of the adventure. Primary on the list was a Walgreens near the IGA (hence, it was called the "IGA drugstore") where we went so my Mom could pick up the clothes she washed and ironed from one of the women who worked there. Lots of DC's and Marvels (mostly DCs though).
Another stop, and a main one, was Rockport Drugs, on the same lot as Cook's Market. Rockport was an indie drugstore, in business at the same location for probably 50 years or more at that point... remember reading Lois Lane and the intro of Rose and Thorn... in later years, they only carried off-brand comics, such as Charlton and Archie. Mom knew one of the workers there also, so they would drop me off there and i could sit and read the comics while they grocery shopped.
Main store for Marvels was a Rexall Drugstore on the same lot as our bank. I could sit and read here if i didn't spend too much time or get caught by the druggist. They had a tube tester for our TV, and we were there a lot.

The three issue Power Girl tryout was one of my favorite E-2 stories! I SO wanted this to be an ongoing!!
At the end of this series, i'll post an idea i've always had about Brain Wave...
to be continued!!!

Just a quick note...
Duffy's Tavern was also a long running radio (and briefly TV) program.

There was a bookstore/tailor shop(?) that sold comics for 15 cents (?) and/or bought them for a nickel or traded 2 for 1... i picked up a lot of 70's stuff there through probably '78 or so when the shop went out of business...
It is hard for me to remember what i bought new and what i bought at the shop, but here's what i got from this month... i would have been 14 and in full Marvel Zombie mode... though i still bought the occasional DC and one or two of the Atlas books (and there were the Christmas subscriptions that were still going on... the folks bought us comic subscriptions for Christmas and i got a lot of stuff that way)
Adventure Comics 431 (for the 7 Soldiers and the cool Aparo Aquaman) Amazing Adventures 32 Brave and the Bold 121 (cool Aparo Metal Men) subscription Captain Marvel 40 (a big let down from the Starlin stuff... but i hung in there) Daredevil 121 (nice artwork and story) Defenders 27 (Gerber and Sal B.!) Doomday +1 2 (first one that i picked up... didn't see #1 for YEARS) FF 162 (alternate universe stuff!!) Flash 236 subscription Incredible Hulk 191 Justice League of America 122 subscription Kamandi 33 subscription (this was the only comic that all three boys and my father read!) Marvel Premiere 24 (don't know why i stuck with this... but i'm glad i did!) Marvel Triple Action 25 (reprinting and filling in my Avengers collection!) Marvel Two in One 11 (finishing off the Golem story) Our Fighting Forces 159 (the youngest kid's choice for subscription since he was a WWII buff) Plop 16 (the middle kid's choice for a subscription since he was a horror movie buff) X-Men 94 (what ARE we going to do with thirteen X-Men?)

Wonder Woman #231It is impossible to say where in the JSA's Golden Age continuity this story falls. The Sandman is wearing his original costume which places it before All-Star Comics #10 (April-May 1942) yet Mister Terrific, who was not associated with the team until #24 (Spring 1945), is shown as a member. Since the circumstances leading to Mr. T's membership were not revealed during the Golden Age, it is possible that he could have joined in or before 1943. It is also possible that Sandman may have donned his old costume for an unspecified reason for this one case. [/b][/quote] My best guess on where this falls in JSA chronology is between All-Star Comics #16 and #17. Sandman's schizophrenic costuming, mostly the fault of artistic error, can be chalked up to this bit of twisted internal logic... Wes was very uncomfortable in fighting crime with all the gaudy dressed heroes, and only used the purple and gold outfit when teaming with Sandy or with the JSA. When he was by himself, he dressed as shown in Sandman Mystery Theatre. The times when he was shown in the business suit with the JSA after late '41 either he had no chance to change into the other costume or was called away/summoned (possibly mystically) before he could make the change. And i, for one, would love to see the story where Mr. T and Wildcat joined the JSA proper. I have a fan fiction story in the back of my head about that. Keep up the good work, my lighting bolt butted friend!
