Hello Classic Comic Community! Old guy, new member. A good friend has been trying to get me to join for too many years now. Can't wait to meet you all. Love talking classic comics (and Classics Illustrated too). About flippin' time, dude!
DrC is my friend of 40+ years Dino Pidone. He has, at various times, been my roommate, my caregiver, my student, and the closest thing I have to a little brother. He's also a phenomenal sculptor, as Rob Allen and a handful of other CCFers who've met him in person can attest.
I'm glad you're here, Dino. Just don't embarrass me in front of the cool kids. (I kid, I kid!)
Cei-U! I summon the long overdue homecoming!

That first panel of The Destroyer is just incredible. Unfortunately, as with a lot of his designs, Kirby promptly stripped away most of the details so he could draw faster. (That's not a criticism, mind you. I totally empathize with Jack's need for speed.) It took Walt Simonson to restore Destroyer to all his intricate glory. And didn't it look bad-ass in the first Thor movie?

Does anyone else remember the Marvel Super-Heroes Slurpee cups that 7-11 was offering back circa '75 or so? There were 60(!) of them in all, of which I managed to snag six (Captain America, Doc Savage, Hercules, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Thing). I might've gotten more but I wasn't a big Slurpee fan. Unfortunately, it only took two or three washings for the pics to wear off so I chucked 'em all decades ago.

How much longer are we going to flog this dead horse? Seems to me we proved chatGPT is worthless around page 2.
Cei-U! On the other hand, it's like passing a 50 car pileup on the freeway: I can't look away!

Are the Gerry Conway & Jose Luis Garcia Lopez Tarzan issues worth reading? I thought so, but then I think anything with Garcia-Lopez art is worth reading.

Something about the girl, especially the face, reminds me of Michael Golden but nothing else in the picture does.

Apparently, chatGPT is unaware that Vincent Price was already a villain (Egghead) on Batman '66, not to mention he would've been all wrong for Scarecrow. Seems to me this particular AI comes up a wee short on the I.

Related question: Looking for a picture of the boots, I've never seen the top and bottom of the costume separated. I assume in-universe the costume was one piece? No. I can't recall where off the top of my head but I know there are pictures of Supes bare-chested but in costume from the waist down.

I heard an interesting question today- if you entered a room that had everyone you ever met, who would you go to first? My sister, so she can tell me all the ways I've screwed up since she passed.

Back in the Pleistocene Era when I was an undergrad at the University of Washington, I took advantage of my student discount at the campus bindery to have three volumes of bound comics made, one containing Iron Man #1-25, one The Demon #1-16 (including The Brave and the Bold #109), and one collecting Howard the Duck #1-14 (plus Fear #19, Man-Thing #1, and Giant-Size Man-Thing #3-4). These were beautiful books with sturdy clothbound covers and gold lettering on the spines and front covers. After a couple of years, I came to regret having done so for reasons lost to memory and donated them to a charity auction at a local convention. 45+ years later, I still wonder whatever became of them and hope they found a good home.
