Loaded up Spotify for the first time in a while, flipped through my "discover weekly" and landed on 808 State (Had heard their "Pacific 202" on GTA San Andreas' SF-UR station). Listened to their first and second albums, really like their stuff. Currently listening to "State To State" now, almost kind of sounds like a Depeche Mode or New Order song If you liked their first LP, try the third one, hteir best IMHO : But really, out of the Hacienda scene, you will find A Guy Called Gerald probably the most rewarding : But really, the best came a year later :

Do the doctors have hypotheses about the cause of the problem? That's the biggest concern : they have plenty, but nothing that they agree on, and it's still too vague. But as I said, I can't be bothered thinking too much about it, you only got one life to live, and I better do the most of what I have left in my current more or less "100%" Glad to hear your son's condition was so decisively fixed!

I have Prog #1 to #1478 without break or holes. Alsso every singe Megazine, annual, yearbook, winter/summer sci fi special, Crisis, etc until that issue. Since then I've gathered issues when featuring creators I like (mostly Milligan), but I also tired a little of the "boys action" overall feeling some other member commented on. All in all, this obviously is the biggest section of my collection, a truely defining one, an obsession I developped after reading a swedish translation of The Cursed Earth saga (censored) in the late 80ies.
I must say that appart from the creer high of Bisley area Slaine, I never was fond of the character and his adventures, but I love Nemesis from the same writer. For me, it's overall mostly about John Wagner (no one writes him as good as Wagner).

I catalogue all my floppies and such in comicbookdbIt says I have 18788 comics in my collection (including all 2000 ADs, Warren magazines, and other comic mags) It doesn't take in account any of my euro books and mangas, which is far from as plenty but still in the healthy lower four figures.

So the weirdest and scariest thing happened to me some 2-3 months ago : I went blind.
This is no hyperbole or joke, I truely and technically went blind. Just writing this spoils the happy ending, but I can tell you this was quite frightening to say the least. As I currently don't live in a fashion that allows me easy and affordable access to health care, this was even more depressing a situation. The worst irony was that I recieved a 45kg package from the US filled with comics... But that's a minor point in regards of the prospective of a long life to live without eyesight. I was seriously starting to think I would have to resort to my love of music to keep going, as this affliction appeared out of nowhere, with no clues to fortell this. To this day, the doctors I managed to consult were dumbfounded with what the cause of this might have been, as much as they are to observe it copletly gone, a suddenly as it fell upon me.
So I lived over two months in the dark, with a lot of help from many friends, taking much of their precious time to help me accomodate with this new paradigm, keeping me away from the very dark places (no pun intended) I was leaning towards.
For the past week, I've been abe o watch movies, use the computer and read books and comics. The first couple of days felt like a miracle, but were followed by excrutiating headaches (doctors and scanners couldn't find a reason for this either...). I now feel like all is back in order, but I know that this could go away again, and I guess you can imagine how scary that is. But you can't live in fear, so, I've already placed a new order of books, and am currently going to go into a binge read of Corben nuggets.

I'm listening to Aretha Live at Fillmore West and noticing the tempo is too fast as well. The stereo is a TEAC which I assume is a cheapo because I've never heard of them before. The turntable is on top of a duel tape cassette player which is on top of the CD changer so I'm not sure if I can even adjust it at all. There is a phillips head screw exposed next to the turntable arm (the same place it is in the photo I posted above). Not sure if that's the same screw that can be adjusted your talking about Arthur Gordon Scratch ? You should try, you won't damage it, and it's probably that. Is this situation recent, or has it always been like that since you started to use it?

When I was listening to my Johnny Cash vinyl earlier the tempo sounded slightly faster than the CD version for some reason. I'm wondering if this is a problem anyone else has noticed? I'm listening to a double disc Fats Domino right now and it sounds great though but don't have another version to compare it too. What kind of turntable are you playig the vinyl record on? If it's a cheapo, that's probably the motor. But it doesn't features a pitch? because that would be the easy solution. Sometimes, if it's a cheapo, yo'll have some kind of screw underneath, one that you can manipulate to change the speed. But if the speed (too high or not) is steady, I would think twice about doing that. If it sounds good at the pitch it plays, don't change anything. If it's an old recording, I've encountered CD reissues that were badly transfered, with a pitch change.

Littlefinger sees Sansa as someone he can manipulate. If he has to woo her or bed her, he will, but she is just one more person for him to play. Arya, on the other hand, can't be manipulated. She has no illusions about nobility, honor, etc.; she's seen how the game of thrones is played and has decided to upset the apple cart by making her own rules. That is what Littlefinger is scared of, because he won't have any sway over her, because she'll see through his smarm and machinations and if need be, eliminate him if he stands in her way. The way he looked at her in the latest episode reeked of admiration though, like he finaly met someone he considers up to his standards.
