Watching the February 2nd 1998 RAW. Just got done watching the segment where The New Age Outlaws took the opportunity to topple over a dumpster containing Catcus Jack and Chainsaw Charley. While I appreciate the "realness" of the angle, they treated the aftermath of this thing like a national tragedy

Could anybody please reassure me that he won’t ever be in the WWE Hall of Fame? I'd rather see the Spanish Announce Table be inducted, at least it actually took some clean bumps And I'll finish my comments on Russo by saying that he gives New Yorkers a bad name by being continually obnoxious and ignorant

Started back with my SCTV boxed sets. Just got to the introduction of and subsequent episode containing "The Days Of The Week" and this might be some of the best that came out of the show
Really, it's kind of a shame that humor of this quality doesn't exist anymore (well, maybe Letterkenny)

Russo talked about people 60 and over who won’t let their fandom of the business go. He goes on about how obsessed people are. Gotta love it from a guy who continues to make money out of wrestling (if he hates it so much, go and find a job jnstead of releasing crappy videos). He often goes on about marks. Gotta love that from a guy who has a photo of himself in the room he does his podcasts - along with lots of other merchandise. There’s nothing wrong with following an interest for life, whether it be comics, wrestling, etc. Truth is, Russo is one of those people he criticises. How many podcasts does he do? How much time does he devote to wrestling? If he feels the way he does, and wants to not be the hypocrite he is, he should give up monetising wrestling and go and find a job. I understand so much why certain people loathe this guy. Russo also said he never really considered himself part of the business. I wish he hadn’t been part of the wrestling business. To me, he’s just a hypocrite making money out of something he claims he loathes. He's very much the opposite side of the coin when it comes to somebody like Cornette, who lives and breathes wrestling and waxing nostalgic over the old days. At some point you have to wonder if Russo just does it purely for attention at this point? And why anyone would give him that attention? I won't understate Russo's influence in helping create the Attitude Era (though ECW is more responsible for that than anybody), but weren't most of his ideas filtered through and retooled by Vince? So really saying that he was "the architect of the Attitude Era" like so many have said when he jumped ship to WCW is kind of like saying that the bucket helped while the farmer was milking the cow. I don’t mind it, but I want the Winged Eagle back! I heard murmurings on facebook following Maina that Cody would create a new "winged eagle" style belt, but I guess that wasn't the case

My pick would be one of the MGN that really wowed me when I first read it. It' a great non-superhero suspense stroy. It reminds me of the those forbidding 70's no one knows about films that has all of like 3 actors in the movie. It bare bones, no frills story about the colder side of humanity. Those movies that you walk away from the theater looking over your shoulder and wishing you hadn't parked so far away from the theater entrance. Oh and it was based on a true story. Arena GN #1 (1989) Writer/Artist Bruce Jones I think my favorite MGN was Neuromancer, really sucks that they never continued the story for various reasons. It was a really good adaptation, probably only bested by the BBC Radio Play Thought I knew what I wanted to post about, but after some soul searching, I knew it had to be Super Mario Adventures I got my original copy years ago at the clearance section at a local Walmart and loved it, but it unfortunately got water damaged fairly badly. Before the re-release came about, trying to replace it was a nightmare, people wanting insane amounts of money because of how popular Nintendo products are. While it's still an all-ages read, it's not without it's charms. When I was younger, I loved the character of "Friendly Flyod", this door to door salesman who sells lipstick to Paranaha Plants and gives the Mario Bros an English to Yoshi translation book that proves utterly useless. It's full of great moments like that. Another one that sticks out is Mario and Luigi winding up at a Boo House and conning the biggest one into revealing the location of Koopa's castle during a break-thru therapist consultation

Although I think the Draft is pointless and useless (I mean, there's still a lot of crossover for storyline purposes) I'm thinking Cody will go over to Smackdown....can't have both major titles on one show. The amount of times that they've gotten rid of or say that they're bringing back the draft is crazy to me, but hey, who am I to argue with them chasing ratings?

1st Issue Special #8 and The Warlord #1-#10 and #12-#14
Decided to re-read/continue Grell's The Warlord, a series which I've always deeply loved. Really good mix of sword and sorcery fantasy and science fiction that's pretty well written

For goodness’ sake, someone online - and this time it wasn’t Russo - is asking about how interesting the main event would have been for casual fans. Okay, note to self: I must be an alien, or maybe Russo has spread his narrative, because I HONESTLY do not understand this obsession with strawman casual fan. Night 1 was for fans invested in the Bloodline saga, not some casual fan who last watched WWE when Diesel was world champion. But what do I know? Maybe the likes of Game of Thrones and The Sopranos should have featured episodes for ‘casual fans’ rather than people willing to invest time in shows. Oh, my favorite is all the people saying "The Rock Is Bringing Back The Attitude Era" or "They should rehire Russo as a writer if they really wanna bring people back to the product" Okay, so for context, I grew up watching Ruthless Aggression Era Smackdown and barely touched/watched wrestling until I was in my teens. I absolutely have no nostalgia for the Attitude Era. That being said, what little of 1998 RAW that I've watched, I've liked. I would not call it perfect, but it's decent. The wrestling kind of feels like an afterthought though. IDK and this is coming from somebody too who loves pre-Barely Legal ECW and while some of the matches were intentionally garbage, they did have some great technical matches.

That Snickers is likely to make Doomsday’s mood worse (I’m not a fan of that chocolate bar). I'm kind of adverse to chocolate with nuts in it (my mom is the same with oatmeal raisin cookies, which I love). My go-to is probably Twix, ate so much of those during college along with Mountain Dew Voltage

I thought about doing that, but I was so damn hyped for the main event that I literally could not wait until the next day Change of plan: I’ll watch tonight’s instalment, but I’ve got a crossword book here, when the superfluous crap is on, I’ll do the crossword instead. I mean, the ads are crap. No matter how many times they advertise Snickers, I’m not likely to rush out and buy one. Sounds like you need a Snickers! One thing that kind of annoyed me while watching it live was that they had video hype packages for Peacock Subscribers that were on the higher tier and anything lower had to watch ads

Next year I’m watching the event the next day, so I can fast-forward through the elaborate entrances, video packages, sponsorship crap, etc. I thought about doing that, but I was so damn hyped for the main event that I literally could not wait until the next day

what belt is Rock carrying around? The people's championship. He got it from Muhammad Ali's wife during the HOF ceremony on Friday. It's not a real belt, more like a championship ring

but it’d have been like Peter Weller being interviewed about RoboCop back in the day, and having one journalist congratulate him on how he played the role, while another journalist asks, “So, do you think OCP can be stopped by RoboCop, or does the corruption go too high?” I'd love to actually see Weller's response for that
