I honestly just use facebook to keep up with friends, pal around in groups, or look up news
The very idea of social media would probably make Orwell's head spin

On the other side of the coin, there are things that seem almost universally disliked. I can’t say I’ve known anyone who liked the movie HOWARD THE DUCK. I didn’t. But there must be someone on Earth who does. Oh, I've had a co-worker who loved the HTD movie. Believe it or not, we're really close friends
Also, the Ty Templeton run from 2008 made a point to reference the movie every chance it got

I get that these are supposed to be throwback figures, but most of them look very plain. Wave 6 looks great though, definitely getting Thor and Thing

About the only thing I’ve never really gravitated towards is hardcore wrestling (I like it in moderation, if the psychology is good). But apart from that, I can enjoy almost any wrestling. I enjoyed a lot of ECW, but once it started getting more and more focused on pure "bloodsport" matches (I consider Barely Legal 97 to be the cutoff) is when I kind of lost interest
ECW had a lot of great technical wrestling, but then you had stuff like the dog collar match between Raven & Stevie Richards and The Pitbulls (probably one of my favorite matches of all time)
And then you had the matches with Sabu, his stuff was on a completely different level

I read the two Ultraman mini-series that Marvel put out over the last year or two, Rise of Ultraman and Trails of Ultraman. It’s a modern tale that has plenty of shallow and deep dive references to the various television series. For what it is, I’m not sure we could have expected much better. The art is good but doesn’t wow me, and the stories set things up nicely for hopefully continuing adventures. I’m perhaps biased as a huge fan of the 1966 show; it, the original Trek, Batman, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, my birth. Has there ever been a better year? Just like the show, we have it mostly a story of the human characters, punctuated with occasional three minutes of monster action. I really enjoy the humor in some of the dialog between our conjoined team, and in the extra pages/stories in each issue 1. I’m really looking forward to the next series. I thought they were pretty good as well.. maybe a bit slow, but good overall. Definitely better than the Netflix revival. I watched a little bit of it, wasn't really enough to hold my attention. Was kind of under the impression that Ultraman never gets gigantic, which is a disappointment

Dollar Tree is an excellent name for a store! There's also Dollar General and Family Dollar

Really not a fan of Higgins' writing style since I first read his work in Boom's Power Rangers book. I like Ultraman well enough (more into Kamen Rider honestly), but I do appreciate the sheer level of detail that went into the show for the time

I just read JLA #114 for the first time. Candidly, I picked it up more because I'm a sucker for those 70's "100 Page" giants and all the reprint content (and this issue had a classic Earth-3 story). But in the main story, did not realize this is where you see Snapper Carr again after his earlier betrayal of the JLA. While never a big Snapper Carr fan (even though I understand what they were trying to do with him in the early JLA days), I never liked that story angle on his betrayal, and his motivations seemed really forced and confusing to me. It just left a sour note I guess. In this issue, it's a very pedestrian story, but it largely shows the JLA not harboring a grudge and other than Carr himself still feeling his guilt somewhat at the end, kind of makes this a nicer epilogue to what went down previously. Again, did not pick up this issue knowing that was the main story, so kind of a pleasant surprise. Who's more of nuisance for the main cast? Snapper or Rick Jones? Also, whole-heartledly agree with you on reprint books. I've got a couple of dollar comics, one for Green Lantern and another for Plastic Man

Quick, nobody tell driver about Force Works! *owns every issue of Force Works* Hey teenage me liked Spider-Woman! Issue #11 was one of the first comics I bought. I wonder why teenage me? Seriously though I have not read it since I bought them in the 90's. But I do remember liking the concept of Century. Loved John Walker's redesigned costume in Force Works so much. Hope he adopts it in the new movie or we at least get a new action figure of it

The dirt sheets say he's going to fight Cody... seems like a logical conclusion to the story, but we'll see... it might be BECAUSE it's a logical conclusion that it's the popular theory.
It will be so funny if Stardust re-appears
I can't be the only one that actually enjoyed Stardust can I?

I hate that THE WEST COAST AVENGERS became AVENGERS WEST COAST. Whose bright idea was that? Doesn’t roll off the tongue as naturally. Suppose I set up a business (I’ll call it Auto Parts). What rolls off the tongue more naturally if I set up a Californian offshoot? West Coast Auto Parts or Auto Parts West Coast? Who can I complain to at Marvel? Quick, nobody tell driver about Force Works!

Read quite a bit the past couple of days, here's a bit of a round up
-Silver Surfer Homecoming graphic novel & Silver Surfer V2 #34-#38
Had this in my backlog for a while and kind of was interested to get into it. I haven't read much of Starlin's stuff (his take on Warlock didn't do much for me), he slots into Surfer rather well, making it feel like Stan Lee's back at the helm
-Marvel Super-Heroes #12 & #13 (mainly for Mar-vell)
Wanted some more science fiction in my comic book diet and by, have I got it here in spades! This is my third or fourth re-read of these two issues and they never stop being quintessential silver age Marvel. Colan is amazing as always on artwork
-Howard The Duck #16-#21
Such good issues, it makes me almost sad that I'm close to the conclusion of Gerber's run. #16 was very special to me when I was younger, even more so now that I'm older and developing my craft as a amateur writer
-Also finished Captain America Epic Collection: Dawn's Early Light. It was worth the money even if it was tonally uneven in places (have read all the issues included previously). Think I've said this before, but the David Anthony Kraft issues (#265 & #266) that end the book read like a rejected Marvel Team-Up pitch and feel more like a Saturday Morning cartoon (I don't mean that in a bad way). Dan Jurgen's run also kind of feels that. Working on a review for it for Amazon, not sure if should be long-winded or brief

Yes, if COIE was the standard for fan-creators, the industry would be in a far stronger position. COIE was and remains one of the best concepts stories DC ever published. Completely unnecessary "fix" to a non-existent problem with a ridiculous plot and sub-par scripting, the only marginal saving grace of which was pretty pictures (which were crammed with too much stuff). On the plus side the first few issues used experimental printing that made it look terrible. But other than that... I haven't read Crisis (put down the pitch forks!), but I think it's long term after effects helped change DC for the better story wise (with the exception of All-Star Squadron and Legion Of Super-Heroes). What really hurt the brand I think was all the other Crisis books that they tried putting out after that

Because who reads comic books these days?! Am I right? But yeah, I think that lends itself to a larger issue that's going on in comics right now. Especially letting people write comics that have either no respect for the medium and just want to use it as a launching pad
you mean like Stan Lee, who was only willing to write comics because he thought it would help launch a career writing novels? I mean he changed his mind later, but that was his attitude from the Golden Age through much of the 60s... or all those Golden and Silver Age artists who saw this as a paycheck, and didn't care about the content, you knw artists like John Buscema and others. Not what meant. I was referring more (as far as "launching pad" goes) to people writing a comic book with a film or tv pitch in mind and not caring about the larger picture

Modern writers have no clue about the characters, they just want to do their thing and use other people's creations to do it. Because who reads comic books these days?! Am I right?
