I was just wondering what folks here thought of the covers Neal Adams has done for DC comics this February. I think this fits on the Classic Board since Adams has reworked many of his Silver and Bronze Age covers but has changed out the characters.
I think it was a fun idea. And when I saw the pencil versions I was extremely impressed. His pencils are just stunning.
But.....
I've seen the printed versions and I feel that the beauty of the pencils have been flattened by the coloring and the inks. Adams' pencils are very fluid but few inkers(imo)can capture that. All of the inkers involved are very good at their craft. I'm not knocking them at all.
There are plenty of pencilers whose work is improved by a good inker.
But in the case of Adams I think he is the only inker who could do his pencils justice.
So what do the people here think of these covers?

I too never had much interest in Tyrone Power. Same with John Payne. I think Power was more of a matinee idol in that his largest audience was females. I could never accept either one as a tough guy hero. I guess that is why I usually find the character actors more interesting to watch. Nightmare Alley. Nightmare Alley. Nightmare Alley.I know, I know. It's a very good movie and Power is a decent actor. But he just seems bland to me. Maybe he is too good looking. I also don't care much for Robert Redford as a leading man. I'm a Paul Newman guy.

I was on the old CBR Classics board when it was blown up. Because of my dial-up connection I had trouble registering here. Well, I finally made it.
Currently I have discovered Old Time Radio on mp3. I'm listening to the Shadow and Richard Diamond.
I'd like to start a thread about the new covers that Neal Adams is doing for DC. But I guess I have to wait a while until I get that privilege.
Cheers

Thanks. It seems like it's been 10 years since I talked to you folks. I still have a dial-up connection which I think was the main reason I couldn't register here when everyone made the move over to this site. I'm still feeling my way around here. I see a lot of familiar names.

Gene Evans was great as Zack. I'm always interested in watching anything with Evans in it. Ralph Meeker is another film actor I enjoy watching, especially his movies from the 1950s.
