While I will concede with foxley's list for the most part, I don't think the similarities (no matter which one was first) is what defines, or I guess, lack of definition, between the two characters. It's those that are associated with them. Darkseid for the most part stays on his homeworld. Coming to earth and mixing it up with earth's heroes of course too. But I find Thanos more interesting for those he associates with. A Thanos story could include Warlock, Silver Surfer, Pip, Gamora, Spiderman, Thor, Nebula, etc; as well as any of the various cosmic/abstract entities that are associated with Marvel's cosmic makeup.
Starlin has definitely wore out the "end the universe" schtick with Thanos, and I hoping for something new in the GN's I ordered. Maybe it's good these last two GN trilogies are the last he's going to write for Thanos. Maybe a fresh take on Thanos would be a good thing. I dunno. I haven't been keeping up with what is going on in cosmic Marvel since Abnett and Lanning's GotG.

Green Lantern (Vol 3) #13
Kind of felt like this issue was right in the middle of something and so a lot of context was lost to me. It did star Hal, John and Guy though. I forgot Guy is just so unlikeable (could be that ridiculous bowl haircut maybe) even though he's written as a tough "Guy" (ba dum tiss) even in that role he is unlikable. And everyone around here pretty much knows my opinin on Hal; leaving John. Which I've always liked John. Especially latter in his life when Kyle Rayner was GL.
Death Metal #1
I pretty much knew what I was getting but heck 50 cents, why not since I like Death's Head II. This was all the possible 90's mistakes all smashed into one 32 page comic. This was some kind of necro-science of some part of Death's Head II taken and then cursed and then made into this android to kill Death's Head II cause ... well reasons I guess, since the book wasn't forthcoming with a good origin story.
Super Solider: Man of War #1
Not one of my favorites I will probably return to like most of my Amalgam comics. Maybe I was a bit too tried by the time I tried to read this final issue, but it just wasn't working for me. For one, to me, they didn't really change the character's personality much. He was basically Cap with Superman's powers but they never really did much with the character to make him an amalgam of Clark Kent and Steve Rogers. Honestly you could see it either way, really. And Major Zemo was just like Baron Zemo. Though I will admit that I don't know much, if anything, about Major Disaster. Or a lot of the amalgam golden age characters that guest starred in the book.

As far as I care Spider-man died beside Aunt May in Amazing Spider-man #400 and the rest is just delusional comic book writers still pretending he’s alive.
There I said it!
Edit: Opps wrong thread. That’s the last time I pay attention to the poster above me and not the thread title lol

Any for profit company's number one goal, is, well profit. That doesn't mean that good and profitable companies don't ever listen to the consumer to better their product. I think in the case of comics, a lot of fans just don't know what they want. Or they can't choose between "don't change anything about my 7 decade old character" and "don't retcon the continuity stories I love".
Just my two cents. If anything I find it more interesting to learn about the more business aspect of comics and what writers/artists was in it just for the money vs those that had a passion for comics. Because you really need both. Just like we as human are better when we balance our logic and emotion.

If only I would have remembered there was a bridge in that Batman cover, Prince Hal. That was my first classic Batman comic I bought back in the 90's and it was because of the cover.

Icctrombone or anyone else that knows, how important are the Hulk vs Thanos and Infinity Entity to the Thanos Infinity Revelation/Relativity/Finale OGN trilogy? My wife bought me Finale a few Christmases ago and I finally decided to get the other OGN, at least, and read them finally. I just didn't know how intricate these two were the the trilogy.

Is anything at this point in fiction original? Isn't it all just amalgams of other creations, and it's just figuring out where a creation's characteristics come from? Probably But I equate it to cooking. Lots of people make pumpkin pie. But everyone's is just a little different and often times, many are enjoyable. I like sampling many people's cooking because their take on recipes is always different than mine. Same goes with fiction. The ideas may be old but if they present in a way I like, I will buy, read and consume that comic...err....pie....whatever I was saying That's a really good analogy. I never thought about it that way. But yeah, there's certain meals, like my spagetti or scrambled eggs, my kids and wife say I cook better, and then there's dishes that I and the kids like of my wife's better than mine. I don't know how she can make a grilled cheese so much better than I do.

True, but I’ll take The Monster Squad over Van Helsing any day. I never heard of the Monster Squad. Old movie ? 80's maybe 90's? To me it's like a Universal monsters Goonies. Neither movie I cared for but my wife likes them. Maybe it was because I didn't grow up watching them so it's just another kid's movie.

I often wonder if I know what things like "love" and "happiness" are, not because I'm necessarily lacking in either, but more because I over-think everything. I've been loved at least four times. I think I sincerely offered my love twice, once to my ex-wife, and once to my current girlfriend. I'm currently in a relationship with a woman who makes my life so much better, makes my kids' lives better, and truly adores me. Maybe it's because I love her so much that I worry I don't love her enough? I'm not even sure what that means. There's no one I want to be with but her, but I don't know that I've ever had that moment where the music swells in my head, she is the very air I breathe and all that exists to me, and life is perfection. She's just my best friend that I trust completely, always want around, and enjoy kissing. I believe that love changes over time. What we feel when we're young, hormone-laden and with our whole life in front of us is different from what we feel when we are more settled, with a few kids and a fairly good idea of what life is supposed to be like for the foreseeable future. It's not a smaller kind of love, but it's, for the sake of an image, deeper rather than hotter. It's an ocean rather than a volcano. My wife was not my best friend when I first fell for her. In fact, I hardly knew her (it was like something out of Elfquest, really). I got to know her better with time (and that took some doing!) but she was still an unknown quantity on several fronts; I just knew that when she was around I turned to jelly and that everything about her filled me with joy. Nowadays, she definitely is my best friend. Her existence still fills me with joy, mind you, and that will likely never change, but now I know her. She's no longer the unattainable star that makes the poet's heart vibrate; she is the very real mortal woman with whom I've built a good life. She's no longer "the other", wonderful and beautiful and with whom I want to be; she truly is my better half. And darn, is she beautiful... far more so than when she was 18, even if she won't admit it!!!As for the original question, and while several women have moved me (as I was a pretty romantic lad way back when), I truly fell in love three times; out of these three times one led to the lady ending up marrying my best friend (no friendship lost there, I'm happy to report; she just ended liking him better), one led nowhere at all and one has been going on for... (counting on his fingers...) 35 years! Not to discount the rest of your post, as I agree with being friends making the romantic part of the relationship even stronger. I talked to my wife online long before we both new that we wanted to be more than friends and I think that is what has kept us through thick and thin for the last 21 years. But my wife does that too, and it's exasperating. I love you. You're beautiful and sexy so stop selling yourself short.

Skittles is pretty much my go to candy when I have a sweets craving. It's one of the few candies I eat fairly regularly. And one candy that always used as the "Dad candy tax" from my kids when I would take them trick or treating. Gotta teach about the how world works when they're young lol
