I wasn't planning on linking to any more great 1940s comics for a few days, but then I came across a Powerhouse Pepper story that I've never read.
Powerhouse Pepper is MUST-READ Golden Age!
"Powerhouse Pepper"
Basil Wolverton is amazing. I was reading a bunch of old Fawcetts and ran into his 'Culture Corner' feature and just fell in love with it. Fortunately, mere months later, Fantagraphics released a big hardcover collection of them. Natch, I hadda have it. I picked up the collected edition of Wolvertons Culture Corner a month or so back. With the holidays I haven't had a chance to really dig in to it. But soon.

Here's another cool story from Four-Color Shadows:
"The Ghost's Criminal Cruise"
It's a Hawkman story from 1948, so he's wearing the yellow mask instead of the hawk-like mask.
Also along for the ride are Hawkgirl and the Gentleman Ghost.
Also, Joe Kubert!

I was reading Sad Sack and other Harvey Books before I started reading Marvel back in 64/65 so I decided Sad Sack and other books from shows I grew up with like Beany and Cecil and Tom Terrific would be a nice addition to the collection.
