Ok, so here is the original cover to New Teen Titans #39... And here is what I assume to be a commissioned piece done by Perez, or alternate take on the cover to #39?..... Also, what is this all about?? ..... I actually think this art is fantastic!! Hey, it is PEREZ, you gotta love it!

Well, George has always seemed quite LBGTQ friendly, so it's not surprising to me that he does commissions for that community. And you can't go wrong with original Perez art!

I am actually quite fond of that Robin in bondage picture.

Lovely artwork, but I'm not sure how intentionally homoerotic that cover is. You could be seeing what you want to see here. Then again, maybe it is intentionally homoerotic! But that's kinda the point I'm making, I guess. It's like a lot of the supposedly sado-masochistic or bondage-themed Wonder Woman artwork; is it all intentionally bondage-themed or is some of it just a superheroine tied up by a villain? Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Perez's costumes often had men showing more skin than you traditionally saw in other comics. For the New Teen Titans, Nightwing showed more chest than Donna or Raven, and Cyborg showed off just as much leg as Starfire and Raven.
Whether that's a commentary on his sexuality, an agenda in favor of a specific sexuality, or just a sense of equal treatment for the sexes, it's definitely there.
I mean, if you're going to have Kory flying around wearing next to nothing and showing off her pronounced assets, why not have Dick and Wally do the same?

Regardless of Perez's agenda, I have no issues with this art(as long as all of the characters are over 18 in these pictures of course).

Hobby horse time again: There's something (well, several things) really off with the anatomy in the B&W Perez drawing: - Robin/Nightwing's right shoulder is forward, but he's walking forward on his left foot. You can walk like that, but but it only really works if you're deliberately doing an exaggerated swagger, so completely inaappropriate to the mood.
- Kid Flash's left left appears to be behind the right leg and partially bent, but is drawn with the quadriceps above the knee tensed which would only happen if his leg were extended, or were straining to extend it
- Robin's arms are far too long - if he were one of DC's ubiqitous gorillas he might get away with it, but otherwise his arm span should equal his height and his hands should hang roughly level with his crotch - they're about 1/12th too long, which doesn't sound much, but it just looks wrong.
- The positioning of the legs is just wrong for the movement they're supposed to be doing - ie walking towards the viewer
Apologies for jumping all over the thread for this, but anatomical faking like that drives me crazy - weight not captured in the right place, wrong muscles tensed for the pose etc.

I tend to think that Perez's art is primarily focused on feminine charms, but it's likely he has a liberal enough mindset to provide "equal opportunity" for those that want to see the male of the species getting similar exposure.
I have the recollection that he's stated publicly that he has a liking for catfight art. Dunno if he's done any of that on commission, but he's found some occasions to work into his major accounts in any event-- Power Girl/Wonder Woman, Blackfire/Starfire...

Wait... is Perez gay? That would be the first I've heard if so.

They look like theyre standing and straining all muscles(bodybuilder pose) and not walking...however its also just a fun piece looking from the other side, so I wouldnt get too hot about it. Does it matter if its homo-erotic ? Like others have said, with the sexualisation of virtually every female hero, why not a man or two ?

It's a different artist. The signature is on the bottom left.
I did not think of it as homoerotic, but now I might! : )

It's definitely cheesecake featuring male characters. At least the commissions are. The cover doesn't seem cheesecake in nature.
