Star Wars seemed so fun and "innocent" at the time. Still capable of the far-reaching fantasy Lucas always wanted it to be. I couldn't agree more. That's why I'm so fond of Jaxxon: he reminds me of a time when Star Wars was just one film, not bogged down with lots of complex back story, and was just tons of innocent fun.

Thanks for the scans of the Marvel SW UK Weekly covers. I'm from the U.S., so never remember seeing these. IIRC, there was some artwork featured in the UK comics that wasn't in the Marvel US comics.

There was certainly some different covers sometimes and we got lots of unique pin-ups, like the Tony Dezuniga one I posted. Plus, because each monthly U.S. issue was split up into three weekly instalments, you would get a "the story so far..." page at the beginning that often retooled panels from the proceeding issues and sometimes featured entirely new panels drawn by Carmine Infantino or whoever was doing the art on a particular story. Essentially though, the stories were reproduced exactly as they had been in America, just in black and white. There were also some stories specifically written for the UK market that were not initially available in the U.S., which are the issues of Star Wars Weekly or The Empire Strikes Back Monthly that I've reviewed in this thread.

Confessor, seems like Jaxxon is going to be canon again thanks to IDW- Ha ha...that's great news! Icctrombone will be over the moon. I will definitely check that out, but I hope they do him justice and don't just turn him into a post-ironic comedy character. He's actually a pretty bad ass mercenary type, despite being a 6ft tall, bright green bunny rabbit. I wonder if Amazia or any of the other Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3 will appear? Edit: I was just reading the entry on Wookiepedia about this Star Wars Adventures series and, apparently, not all of the strips published in it are canon. So, it remains to be seen whether Jaxxon ends up being part of SW canon again.

It makes me sad if they're already messing with 'canon' and 'non canon' with currently published stuff... I guess we just gave to decide on our own. Regardless of whether Disney says it 'counts' or not, it'll be cool to see a new story!

I haven't seen that one yet ( I switched to trades), but that does look pretty silly.

I have 0 interest in Marvel's new SW comics. The only SW Marvel comics I'm interested in is the original series, from 1977 - 1986.
I was also a huge fan of Dark Horse's SW comics, primarily the titles they released in the '90's.
Though these new Marvel SW comics may be somewhat interesting, it's hard to keep track of all of the new titles & the new canon. So, I decided not to collect these before they were even released in early 2015.

Though these new Marvel SW comics may be somewhat interesting, it's hard to keep track of all of the new titles & the new canon. So, I decided not to collect these before they were even released in early 2015. They're basically running a weekly book. They have the main title (Star Wars), Darth Vader, Poe Dameron (Which is essentially a prequel to Force Awakens), and a revolving mini. They recently added Doctor Aphra (who spun out of the Vader book), which seems to be ongoing (it's up to like issue 17 or so) so I guess there's 4 and the mini now. Most of the minis are self contained. There is a sort of main thread that covers the main book, Doctor Aphra, and the 1st Darth Vader book, which all take place better ANH and ESB.. they were pretty separate at first, but they've now kinda connected more. The other minis (Lando, Chewie, Han, etc) are all at no particular time. You can definitely just pick one up and read it without the others, though, much like Dark Horse did.

Cover for the upcoming Star Wars Epic Collection:The Original Marvel Years Volume 3. I wonder why they chose the issue 50 cover, when they could have used the issue 52 one...IMO one of the best ever pieces of Star Wars art...

Cover for the upcoming Star Wars Epic Collection:The Original Marvel Years Volume 3. I wonder why they chose this, when there are better covers in the collection... Most likely because it has all of the major characters in one cover (which none of the covers during these issues had) and it is some gorgeous Tom Palmer work!
