Damn. Love me some steampunk. Have you read them foxley? From the prices and lack of availability (at least at Lone Star) these either had really love print runs or are actually in high demand. I picked up the first 3 issues of Lady Mechanika and thought that the story and characters were pretty reasonable and the comics held my interest while I read them, without ever really blowing me away. However, the MASSIVE delays that the series experienced (the first three issues took something like 18 months to come out) killed the momentum of the story for me. Ultimately, it looked great art-wise and was a reasonably engaging read, but it wasn't good enough for me to put up with the delays. It was also mightily de-com-pr-e-s-s--e--d; the amount of story in those first three issues would've been told in a single comic back in the Bronze Age (probably half a comic in the Silver Age).

It gets better. Timeliness has definitely improved, and while the storytelling is still decompressed (an endemic problem in modern comics), it is not so bad as in those first issues.

I've read them. The best steampunk title currently on the market (IMHO). The title is currently being produced as a series of mini-series. The early series did have a relatively low print run, but when they changed publisher, the early issues were re-issued as as double issues to allow new readers to catch up. So hopefully this means demand is high. Each issue has multiple covers, some scarcer than others, so particular covers might be more 'in-demand' than others. If your interested, the original Lady Mechanika series has been collected in trade paperback, and the second series The Tablet of Destinies, either just has or is just about to be (I have the original floppies, so I'm not sure). Thanks for the overview. I'll probably go for the TPB and see how I like the first one and go from there.I may be able to look pass the decompression due to the art. :-)
