I thought this might make an interesting topic, while at the same time keeping it clean. How many of you have bought a comic, simply because the girl drawn on the cover was sexy in some way? Be honest.Here is an example, I remember buying this one in the 80's.  I remember in the story, the girl ends up wearing an outfit kind of like Slave Leia in JEDI but it was red and silk I think, and this was DC doing it too. Anyone else want to share their sexy Comic book cover story? |

I used to buy comics based on the comics when I was a little kid. I've never bought one because the cover was "sexy".

I always wondered why there always seemed to be a surplus of Camelot 3000 number fives in bargain bins: did dealers see the cover and over order or were customers embarrassed to pick it up?  |

I don't think that I've ever bought a comic just because it had a sexy cover. That said, I'm not at all adverse to sexy females on the covers of my comics. I have bought some x-rated comics over the years, like the "Young Witches" series from Eros and Milo Manara's "Indian Summer" for instance, but the covers are the least of the attraction with those books. While we're on the subject of sexy comic books, someone from the old CBR Classic Comics forum was kind enough to send me their copy of Wally Wood's "Malice in Wonderland" comic a few years back. I'm so grateful that this nice person did this, but I've forgotten who it was who sent it to me. If it was you, please remind me, so I can say thanks again.  |

well I wasn't talking about porn comics, just regular comics cause the cover looked "interesting" for example, here is an issue of female detective Ms. Tree #34  And I never read Ms. Tree before. |

Uncanny X-Men 290 comes to mins as one of the earliest comic I bought for this reason. Still like it to this day.
I started collecting in the 90s so no shortage if sexy comic covers and no shortage of me buying the ones I liked. I blew off Lady Death for a long time till an early 2000s cover caught my eye and I started reading a lot of the Chaos printed Lady Death. I also picked up Nira X Cyberangel because of a cover and enjoyed most of the Entity printed comics. Never cared for it once Avatar started printing it.
Ghostly Haunts 41 comes to mind from Tom Sutton. There's a Medusa cover I mentioned in another thread by Gene Colan though the title escapes me now.
Salvador Larocca did three or four great covers of Storm in Xtreme X-Men.
Sorry I'm on my moble and don't know how post them using it. I'm sure more will come to mind. Having been a Bettie Page fan long before comics, sexy art like Jim Silke, Oliva, Dave Stevens, Dave Worren is something I enjoy.

Excessive cheesecake actually turns me off of books. I avoided Tarot for years because of the covers, and I still don't buy Dynamite's Barsoom books, despite being a John Carter fan. Seems to me the way to do sexy covers for a super-hero book is the above approach, or what they're doing with Captain Marvel - show me a strong woman who can take care of herself and who looks good. Of course, humor works too. I started buying XXXenophile because of covers like this -  |
