Oh my, that is unexpected! I wonder how many kids passed on the Easter egg hunt that year?

Just two steps ahead of this nightmare inducer: Awesome and scary. "It's got nasty, big, pointy teeth and a vicious streak a mile wide..."

"It's got nasty, big, pointy teeth and a vicious streak a mile wide..." I love when DC seemed to be doing a lot of these "two boys and a girl (and sometimes a dog) seeing something creepy" covers, but don't remember more than a couple of stories that kind or plot.

Neal Adams did a whole line of covers in the late 60's and early 70's, right when DC relaunched their horror line, with kids (and dogs) stumbling across some horrible thing. They seemed to move away from that after Adams stopped doing covers for their horror books, but this is a definite throwback. And an excellent one.

Just two steps ahead of this nightmare inducer: Was that a sequel to Night of the Lepus (1972)?

I think this one takes the cake for 'hero in an impossible situation'... doesn't happen inside, at least.
