DC released their April Solicitations. Spoiler alert - it is all about Convergence. You can read it here:
www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=58621
Speaking of Convergence, we had some news bits about that yesterday, and you can read it here:

One last Convergence item this time, and it is about the variant covers, and you can read about it here:
www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=58626
Moving from the comics to the film and television world, we have some Superman V Batman news about the big fight right here:
www.darkhorizons.com/news/35475/stunt-designer-on-batman-v-superman-fight
I don't have an article to link to here, but the big rumor is that the first official preview for Superman V Batman will be attached to the movie Jupiter Ascending which is released on February 6. I am sure it will be officially online at that point too.
The Flash returned to television tonight with the Rogues Revenge episode. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but it is on the DVR. We also have a tease about the season finale from Barry Allen himself, and you can read about it here:
www.darkhorizons.com/news/35481/gustin-teases-flash-season-ending-twist
Not a surprise at all, but Fox has officially renewed Gotham, and you can read about it here:
www.darkhorizons.com/news/35460/fox-renews-gotham-empire-brooklyn
Moving on to future television shows, we have a news bit about Supergirl which leads us to believe that Superman could be a character on the show. Read about it here:
www.darkhorizons.com/news/35487/superman-to-appear-in-supergirl
Finally we have some spoilerish news about the Suicide Squad film here:
www.darkhorizons.com/news/35488/spoiler-details-about-suicide-squad
So over the holiday break, I had a chance to introduce my 7 year old daughter to the world of Super-Hero films. She chose the first one and she chose the Avengers. A good movie of course, and a great example of today's style of filmaking. A few days later I chose the film and I chose the original Superman: The Movie. A big part of the choices here was taking into account her age - in fact at this point Avengers is the only PG-13 movie she has ever seen, everything else was PG or G. That is why we don't have any Batman films on the horizon - yet. Although maybe she should start with the Batman Animated show...... but I am getting off track.
This is all about Superman: The Movie. She LOVED it, and to be honest I hadn't seen it in such a long time that I forgot how good it is. The whole scene when Clark walks out of the Daily Planet and sees the helicopter dangling and makes the save in his first appearance as Superman - I have to admit I still get goosebumps. Sure, the Lex Luthor/Otis stuff is a bit too comedic for my taste, and it only gets worse in the sequel, but it is still a classic. I would recommend this as the perfect first live action super hero film to share with your children.
And that is about all for this time folks. See you next Analysis!
